Chapter 58 A crisis is imminent
Tobias didn’t even flinch. “What's his deal?”
“Owns a medical supply company. Got his own house. He's not as great as the Graves, but he and Kaia could
work.”
If she got her nephew to marry Kaia, those shares would be as good as hers.
Upstairs, Kimberly was listening in, rolling her eyes hard.
She couldn’t wait to watch Kaia fall from her high horse now
that she was out of the Graves circle.
If Kaia actually married srandom old dude, she'd be a total joke in their crowd.
“Oh, and Tobias-Kimberly’s still got options. You're always going on about the Graveses. Why not have her hang
around Sir Graves’ youngest? Maybe something clicks.”
Tobias chewed his lip. “Lucien? That guy’s impossible to please.”
Otherwise, he should have been married by now.
That man was thirty-three and still single-not even Allen could pin him down.

“What if Kimberly makes it happen?”
Tobias sat up straighter. “You think she could...”
Just the thought made Kimberly blush.
Lucien had those broad shoulders, a trim waist, and legs that went on forever-every inch of him radiated raw

energy.
Just imagining him wrapping her in his arms made Kimberly blush before she even realized it.
She glanced at Kaia’s room, smirking. “Just wait, Kaia. When | marry into the Graves family, don’t ccrying to
me.”
Kaia called in sick for a week and holed up in her room after her grandma passed. For seven days straight, she
didn’t speak to a soul.
On the seventh day, she went all in-grilled a whole fish, made her grandma's favorite meatballs, and brewed a
pot of chicken noodle soup.
She'd been slow-stirring the broth since noon, letting it simmer till dinner.
Sue stood nearby, eyes warm with pride. “Ms. Domont, your grandma would be overjoyed to see how mul
Kaia placed every dish neatly on the table, lit a candle, and stood quietly in front of her grandma's photo.
She talked to the air. “Grandma, it’s been a week since you left. | made dinner tonight myself. Hope it's
something you'd still like.”
She went back to the kitchen and waited for the room to go still, then returned fifteen minutes later.
Sally sat on the couch, stiff as a statue, clearly annoyed at Kaia’s whole “ritual.”
Kimberly looked like she was about to explode. “Mom, for real? Who could eat after all this?”
Kaia sat down and fired back, “Relax, | didn’t make it for you. If you don’t like it, don’t eat. The manor is my
grandma’s-when you're gone, I'm not doing this for you.”
“You...” Kimberly's face twisted in anger.
Sally gave her daughter a look that said, “knock it off.”
“It’s okay, Kaia. Your grandma knew how much you loved her.”
Sally had no plans to get dragged into a fight.
Kaia took a few bites, then quietly cleared the plates.
“Kaia, there's an auction tomorrow. Cwith me,” Sally called casually.
Kaia glanced back, her expression icy. “Grandma just died. You really think I’m in the mood to go shopping?”
Sally smiled sweetly. “It’s not for fun. There's a bracelet up for sale; your grandma would've adored it. You could
take it to visit her.”
Kaia narrowed her eyes. “Fine.”
Sally looked smug, satisfied with herself.
Piece of cake. Kaia is soft-play the emotion card, and she’ll fold every time.
Upstairs, Kaia browsed the auction
site and texted Al dee arelyiou

Kaia thought of his promise—if she needed anything, just say the word.

She gave her the iciest glare and walked straight into the

Meanwhile, Sally was busy texting her nephew: [You in room 8067]
Her nephew shot back: [Yep. Just waiting for your cue.]
Sally smirked to herself, full of confidence.
That was when the man everyone was whispering about walked in.
“Mom, look at who's coming,” Kimberly gasped.
Sally’s breath caught. “I didn’t know he would be here.”
