Kaia shook her head. “No need. We're running out of time
anyway.”
The truth was, Tobias didn’t deserve Lucien’s respect.
Lucien always listened to Kaia, but he didn’t want to seem rude to her family. So, he called out courteously,
“Tobias, we're a bit tight on time. We'll head to the hotel first.”
Tobias blinked in disbelief. “Already? Isn't that a bit rushed?”
“Super rushed,” Kaia added cheerily. “We're heading out. Tobias, just follow in the car behind us.”
And with that, the once lively house fell silent again. The Bugatti convoy rolled out in perfect order-without
sparing so much as a glance for Tobias.
The butler glanced at Tobias’ darkened expression and asked with good intentions, “Didn’t they say you were in
a hurry? Why didn’t you get in the car?”
Tobias’ face darkened further.
Get in the car? Who gave him a chance to get in the car? No one cares if he gets in or not.
The situation was completely upside down.

Yet no matter how furious he was, he didn’t dare lash out at
Lucien.
All he could do was swallow the humiliation.
“Bring my car around,” he barked. “Taketo the hotel!”

Landon was confused. “Wasn't there still time? Why is Lucien rushing so much?”
In the second car, Landon checked his phone, confused. Just to be sure, he called Lucien, “Lucien, didn't we
originally plan to drive a full loop around the city before heading to the hotel? Are we shortening the route?”
“No need. Stick to the plan. Just follow behind us.”
“Got it.”
They still thought it was strange, but no one pressed the issue.
If the bride and groom had no objections, the best men certainly weren't going to complain.

Most people had never seen a car convoy this luxurious in their entire lives. The street was full of spectators
gawking and filming.
But not everyone was enjoying the show. Tobias arrived at the hotel only to be informed by the staff, “The bride
and groom haven't arrived yet.”
His blood pressure spiked on the spot.
“Are you feeling lightheaded? Maybe sit down for a minute?”
Tobias rolled his eyes. Lightheaded? He was about to faint from sheer rage.
Finally, half an hour later, the wedding convoy leisurely pulled up to the hotel entrance.
Kaia stepped out and offered Tobias a polite smile, her words laced with ice, “Dad, you're here early. | thought we
agreed-ten thirty at the hotel, remember?”
Tobias, clearly holding back his temper in front of Lucien, forced a smile. “Didn’t you say we were in a rush?”
Kaia arched a brow, voice calm. “We were in a rush. Not you. | need to freshen up. Why don’t you go welcome
the guests?”
She didn’t bother softening her tone,

Last night, she'd uncovered the truth. Her mother’s death—once thought to be a tragic accident-had in fact been
a calculated murder.

Kaia snapped, “Sue, are you saying Sally was behind this?”
Sue dropped to her knees in panic. “Ms. Domont, | didn’t say anything just now.”
Kaia’s eyes narrowed with a glint of icy sharpness. Her voice remained calm, but her words struck like steel.
“But Sue, | was recording the whole thing. If you won't tellthe truth, I'll hand the recording over to the police.
They'll question you, take your statement, and if needed, place you under investigation.
“Don’t forget, Sue-l remember your youngest son is studying law in San Diego, right? Hoping to beca civil
servant or a judge someday? If you end up with a criminal record, do you think that'll help his future?”
Sue's face went white. Her youngest son had big dreams- he’d even asked Kaia for advice about taking the bar
exam and pursuing a legal career. If she ended up involved in a criminal case, it would ruin his entire future.
“Ms. Domont, | swear, | wasn’t involved! | didn’t do anything!”

Sue sobbed. “I only found out after your mother passed away. | wanted to resign, but she wouldn't let me. Sally

“Then tell me,” Kaia snapped, her patience gone. “What exactly did you find out?”
Sue wiped the tears from her face, her voice trembling as she spoke in fits and starts.

Kaia frowned, confused. “Switched? But the pills were both white, weren't they? How could you tell the difference
just by looking?”
Sue added, “There were two bottles

Kaia’s chest tightened, her breath catching. “And what did the doctor say?”

“Then, when the hospital's admin staff started pressing me, trying to detain me, Sally just so happened to show
up.”
A wave of cold fury surged through Kaia. She clenched her jaw so tightly that her lips turned white. “She
threatened you, didn’t she?”
Sue nodded without hesitation. “Yes.”
Kaia’s voice dropped, sharp and deadly calm. “Did my father know?”
Sue hesitated.
She looked up, startled, then quickly lowered her gaze again.
