Kaia’s checks turned bright red at lightning speed when she heard what Alyssa was saying, and within seconds,
she looked like a red apple.
“Alyssa! Keep your voice down!” Kaia was terrified that Lucien might hear from the hallway. She'd die of
embarrassment.
Alyssa laughed sheepishly, “Relax, he didn’t hear anything. Heh, Kaia, I'm just looking out for your happiness
here.”
They huddled together, sharing intimate secrets until they finally emerged to find the moving company had
already left.
Alyssa noticed Jason still waiting outside, and her eyes flickered with curiosity. “Jason, where's Uncle Lucien?”
Jason smiled faintly, “Mr. Graves said he wanted to cook dinner himself.”
Alyssa gasped, “Kaia, did | hear that right? Uncle Lucien is cooking-for me?”
Jason, who hadn’t walked far, nearly stumbled. When had he failed to notice how self-absorbed Alyssa could be?
Kaia let out a soft laugh. “I think he’s just happy you're here, so he decided to cook.”

With her confirmation, Alyssa beamed even brighter.
Never knew this stuck-up Uncle Lucien had such a caring side.
But when they got downstairs and Alyssa saw the heart-shaped steak on Kaia’s plate, she realized she'd been
completely wrong.
She stabbed at her regular steak with obvious irritation, shooting resentful glances at Lucien.
Lucien calmly cut his own steak-which was also heart-shaped.
“Having trouble cutting it? | haven't started mine yet. Want to switch?” he asked Kaia gently.
Kaia shook her head. “No, | can cut it myself.”
But Lucien ignored her protests, smoothly taking her plate and replacing it with his already-cut steak.
Alyssa bit into a cherry tomato and winced.
Today's tomatoes are really sour!
After dinner, Alyssa didn’t stick around long before heading out. She left feeling satisfied, though her heart felt a
little bitter too. Someone had stolen her best friend away.

But seeing how well Lucien treated Kaia put her mind at ease. She smirked.

Alden is going to regret this later.

After dinner, Kaia went to check on her belongings. She wasn’t really unpacking, just getting familiar with where
everything was placed. The massive walk-in closet was more than half filled with her clothes.
Someone had converted a room on the second floor into a study just for her. Her law books filled up half the
bookshelf, and they'd thoughtfully installed a coffee machine in the corner. She wondered when he'd figured out
she loved coffee.
Kaia stepped out of her new study to find Lucien coming out of their room with a pillow in his arms.
“How's everything looking? Are you all settled in? If you need more space, there are empty rooms on the third
floor,” he said.
“This is more than enough.”
Not counting the bedroom, Kaia’s stuff alone took up two entire rooms. Back at the Domont Villa, she didn’t even
have her own study-Sally had turned it into another walk-in closet.
So yeah, this was way more than enough.
A faint smile tugged at Lucien’s lips. “Alright. Before our

wedding, I'll sleep in the guest room and you can have the master bedroom.”
But clearly, Kaia had missed the main point. “We're having a wedding?”
Lucien raised an eyebrow. “Of course. Mrs. Graves, you're the wife I'm marrying openly and honestly. How could
we not have a wedding?”
He emphasized his point again. “I told you, | don’t plan on getting married a second time.”
Kaia bit her lip and stayed quiet for a moment. “Okay, but can we push the wedding back a bit?”
“Sure.” Lucien looked down at her, his eyes soft with warmth that reached all the way to the corners. “But when
are you planning to cback withto meet my father?”
Kaia smiled, “Soon. How about the day of Alden’s wedding next
month?”
Lucien’s eyes narrowed. He understood exactly what she meant. Since he'd promised to help her leverage the
situation, he wouldn't go back on his word.
A smirk spread across his face. “Fine. Whatever you want.”
The next morning, Alden went to Kaia’s apartment. He pressed

The old woman dragged her shopping cart into the elevator and headed off to buy groceries, leaving Alden
standing there alone. His face had gone pale with anger.
He'd thought Kaia would love him unconditionally forever. But before he'd even fully turned away, she'd already
disappeared completely.
Alden couldn't accept the fact that Kaia was with someone else.

He pulled out his phone and made a call, his voice ice-cold. “I need you to dig up information on Kaia’s new
boyfriend.”
An hour later, after he arrived at the office, his assistant nervously approached his door.
