Chapter 271
“What? Ricardo’s got a girlfriend?”
“Set up by his family.” Emmett Melendez said after he fired up the car and drove off.
At the mention of Ricardo, Clara Calloway was evidently concerned.
“Ricardo’s a catch. Why would he need to go on a blind date?”
Emmett glanced at her, “You think Ricardo’s a catch?”
Clara finally got it, “Oh my god! You’re so touchy! When I said Ricardo’s not bad, I was just being objective. Can you
stop twisting my words? What could possibly happen between me and Ricardo?”
“But you never know! Maybe I should get a female assistant to watch you.”
“Emmett!”

Clara made a face, “That’s not funny at all! You seem to have zero trust in me like I would cheat with any man! Do I
have zero credibility in your eyes?”
“Except for Elio Milburn and Taylor Atwood, I trust you with other men.”
“I have nothing with them…”
“Dare you to say you never had the hots for Taylor?”
Clara blinked and didn’t answer.
She didn’t want to lie or deny her past feelings for Taylor.”
It was real!
“Clara! What’s with the silent treatment?”
“I just don’t want to talk about the past! What’s done is done. Why dig up the past?”
“… You always have excuses, even more than men!”
Emmett stepped on the gas and quickly arrived at the Melendez family home.
The car carrying Alex and Aiden also arrived as they exited the car.
The two lively kids jumped out of the car and ran towards Clara.
“Mommy! I missed you so much!” Alex was always being affectionate.
Aiden looked somewhat speechless, “Alex, you’re acting like a girl.”
The girls in his class always had the words miss you, love you on the tips of their tongues!
“I’m just being honest! I really missed you!” Alex stuck out his tongue.
“Hmph! Well, I missed Daddy.” Aiden ran to Emmett, and Emmett bent down to pick him up.
Clara sighed, “Aiden, don’t mind Alex. He’s always like this!”
“I won’t stoop to his level!”

Alex didn’t care about what others thought of him, and he just laughed, “Mommy, I want candy!”
“Why do you want candy again?”
“I behaved well at school today! Can you reward me with a piece?”
Clara frowned, “No! I know you too well! You must have eaten a lot at school, don’t think I don’t know.”
Before Alex could respond, Sophia Melendez popped out from nowhere.
She yanked Alex away, glaring at Clara, “He just wanted a piece of candy, and you scold him! What kind of mother
are you?”
Emmett immediately frowned, “Mom! Too much candy will give Alex a toothache!”
“So what? Can’t you talk to him nicely? Do you have to get angry? What if your actions cause psychological harm to
my grandson? Who’s going to be responsible?”
“Granny! Stop blaming Mom; I won’t eat it!” Alex quickly said, realizing the trouble he caused.
Sophia held Alex tightly, sneering at Clara, “Look at that! A child is more sensible than you! My grandson is so good
to you, and you’re
still unsatisfied! And you, as their biological father, are just chasing ty!”
