Chapter 0605

Once Tabitha finished her meal and Wendy took her to school, | finally had a bit of tto myself.

| sent the prepared documents to Douglas, asking him to help arrange Tabitha's visa for Berland.

Once her condition improved, | planned to take her abroad. Since Nicholas hadn't insisted on having Tabitha

registered under his name, all we needed was my consent letter for the visa. The longer we delayed it, the more

complicated it would get.

Douglas's response was quick. "I've already double-checked the documents. There shouldn't be any issues. Are

you in a hurry with this? If you need it, | can make arrangements to expedite the process."

"No rush. Tabitha's condition has been unstable lately. We'll leave when she's doing better."

The voice on the other end sounded a bit sentimental. "I hope Ms. Thompson's spirit can watch over Princess

Tabitha. Born into such a good family, she deserves to enjoy a blessed life."

| felt a pang of emotion as well and thanked him again. Without Douglas, | wouldn't have had so much tto

spend with Tabitha. I'd probably be like my mom, always doing things I didn't want to do.

Douglas was forthright, admitting that he had also gained status and wealth through our partnership. He had a

pragmatic view of things, and my bringing it up too often felt overly sentimental.

He then smoothly changed the subject. "Has Ms. Warren contacted you?"

"Yasmine?" | shook my head. "No, why?"

"She must've heard somewhere that we're investigating the Fisher family. She askedfor spy cameras and

portable recording devices..."

| was shocked. "Did you give them to her?"

Douglas sensed my alarm and quickly reassured me.

"No, | didn't. | told her to ask for your permission. | know Yasmine is your friend, but this is a risky matter.

Without your approval, | wouldn't give her the equipment."

Cold sweat broke out on my back as I let out a heavy breath. "Got it, I'll call her."

The whole matter replayed in my mind. | initially planned to target the Fisher family because Nelson's intentions

towardwere repulsive.

In this world, there was always that one person who left a sense of discomfort, whether or not they'd actually

done anything.

The other reason was Yasmine. | didn't want her to continue being bullied by that scumbag Leo, so | started

making plans.

Aside from Douglas, I'd only discussed this with Neal, figuring out how to avoid crossing

legal lines while still getting police support.

We needed to take down Nelson's club in one strike. And once the matter was over, we needed to ensure that

the Jones Corporation would remain untouched.

The thing was, we either needed more police support or they needed to take this matter seriously and cover for

us. That was the leverage | had to secure.

Regardless of how Yasmine found out about this, she couldn't act rashly. She had no backup. and her actions

could trigger a series of retaliations!

| sighed helplessly but could still understand her feelings. Since her breakup, Yasmine hadn't shown a hint of

emotional vulnerability. Yet, | knew she couldn't simply let go.

Since she was framed and locked up, she had been determined to make Jay Caldwell & Co. rise quickly. She was

a strong-willed woman and couldn't just let a jerk walk away without teaching him a lesson.

With everything happening aroundlately, | regretted not paying more attention to her. After sorting out my

thoughts, | decided to call Neal. | was worried Yasmine might not be tellingthe full truth, so at least | needed

to know how much she knew about this.

Neal's response made my heart drop. "The police have never shared anything about this with anyone. I'm

speaking to you as the commander of the Criminal Investigation Division."

| thanked him and decided it'd be best to confront Yasmine directly. Just as | was about to call her, an incoming

call lit up my screen...
