Chapter 166
Chapter 166
Hailey pressed her lips together, then gave a soft “Mm” and didn’t dwell on it any further.
She wasn't great with business matters, but since Isaac said it was all resolved, she trusted him. Perhaps the
Davidson Group was trying to break into the entertainment industry, after all.
In the next few days, just as Isaac had said, the Dalton Group's situation stabilized, and everything began
moving in a positive direction.
Things were also improving with Lily. Hailey had arranged for Finley to find a new designer overseas, and Lily was
pleased with the outcome.
As for Suzanne, since the stuhad disbanded, Hailey had discussed it with Suzanne and decided to shut it
down. After all, it seemed she wouldn't have much opportunity to write books anymore. Suzanne, after thinking
it over, agreed. Years of immersion in work had earned her quite a bit of money, but it was tto slow down.
The closure of the stuworked out perfectly, as it allowed her to finally embark on the travel plans she had
made earlier in the year.
Knowing these things brought Hailey a sense of peace.
After the Monday meeting, Hailey found herself with sfree tat the office, so she decided to take Holly
out for a walk around the city.
With the new school year approaching, she hadn't had much chance to explore. And since things had started to
improve, Hailey felt lighter and more relaxed.
However, when she mentioned Holly, Hailey noticed Isaac’s expression seemed off.
“Issac, have you and Holly had a fight?” she asked, unable to hold back.
Isaac shook his head, his tone gentle as he said, “No.”
Hailey said, “Cto think of it, | haven't seen much of Holly lately. Have you been too busy to spend twith
her?”
Isaac smiled and replied, “Don’t worry, | know what I’m doing. I'll be busy now.” With that, he walked into his
office.
Hailey bit her lip and took out her phone, opening WhatsApp.

She had arranged to meet Holly in the afternoon to go shopping.
At 1 p.m., the two girls met at the mall in the city center. Holly arrived ten minutes late.
She wasn’t wearing makeup and had thrown on a dress. Her face looked pale, and she didn’t seem well.
“Sorry, Hailey, I'm late,” Holly said.
Hailey stepped forward, taking her hand and frowning slightly. “Holly, are you sick?”
Holly smiled faintly, shaking her head, and linked her arm with Hailey’s. “No, | just haven't been out much lately.
| guess it's from staying at hfor too long.”
As they walked into the mall, Hailey eyed Holly suspiciously. “Why haven't you visited Isaac at the office lately?”
Holly curved her lips into a slight smile. “He’s been so busy lately. | didn’t want to bother him. By the way, how's

Group doing now?”
“The situation has stabilized,” Hailey replied.
“That's good,” Holly said, pausing. “So.... has Isaac been eating well and resting enough?”
Hailey, even with her usual naivety, caught on immediately. “You and Isaac had a fight, didn’t you?”
Holly lowered her head and fell silent.

After a long moment, Holly stopped walking. Her long hair covered her face as her voice cracked slightly.
“Isaac... he wants to break up with me.”
Hailey froze, her eyes widening in shock. “Why?”
Holly sniffed, looking up with reddened eyes. “He wants to marry the daughter of the Davidson Group.”
Hailey’s mind went blank, and everything seemed to collapse around her.
So that was why the Davidson Group had helped the Dalton Group.
Hailey trembled slightly.
It was because of her that the Dalton Group had fallen into this mess, and now Isaac was the one who had to
make the sacrifice. She couldn’t accept it.
Hailey took a shallow breath, looking at Holly with tears welling in her eyes. “Holly, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry...”
“Holly, this isn’t your fault. Please, don’t blyourself,” Holly whispered, tears escaping as she spoke.
Hailey kept apologizing, needing to say it to feel a little better.
After a long while, she calmed herself and called Isaac.
Isaac answered immediately. “Hailey.”
“Isaac,” she called softly, “We can’t accept the Davidson Group's help.”
Isaac instantly understood, realizing she had found out. He rubbed his forehead and sighed. “Hailey, right now
the Davidson Group is the only one who can save us.”
“Owen can help too. I'll go see him,” Hailey replied, her tone cold.
“Hailey,” Isaac’s voice turned serious. “Don’t do anything you'll regret. If you don’t like him anymore, don’t force
yourself. The Dalton family won't sacrifice you to save the company.”
“Then who will you sacrifice?” Hailey snapped, her voice cracking.
“I've always been the only son of the Dalton family. The Dalton Group will be mine to run one day. Hailey, this is
what I'm supposed to do. It has nothing to do with you,” Isaac’s voice softened.
Tears welled up in Hailey’s eyes.
Isaac added, “Hailey, please tell Holly I'm sorry. In this relationship, I’ve been the one who let her down.”
Hailey bit her lip and hung up the phone.
She looked at Holly, but no words would come. Holly loved Isaac so much, and Isaac clearly loved her back.
Why.....?

Hailey took a deep breath, stood up, and gently touched Holly’s face. “Holly, don’t worry, | won't let Isaac break
up with you.
“Holly” she whispered
With that, Hailey turned and let the mall, hailing a cab to the Calhoun Group.
Half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of the Calhoun Group.
The receptionist, seeing Hailey’s determined expression, hurriedly stepped forward to stop her. “Miss, do you
have an appointment Without one, you can’t go in
Without saying a word, Hailey walked straight to the elevator and pressed the button for the CEO's private lift.
The receptionist was immediately flustered, realizing this might be someone important, and quickly apologized.
After all, not many people knew the code for the CEO's private elevator,
The elevator took Hailey straight to the top floor.
Perhaps the receptionist had made a call, for as soon as the elevator doors opened, she saw Richard,
Richard, who had worked closely with Owen for many years, resembled Owen in both his approach to work and
his fashion.
“Miss Dalton, the boss is waiting for you in his office. Please follow me,” Richard said respectfully as he led
Hailey to Owen's office.
Hailey walked into Owen's office like ice, slamming the door behind her. She walked straight to his desk.
Owen, dressed neatly, sat at his desk, his usually cool expression softening with a hint of tenderness as he
looked at her. “Hailey, did you miss me?”
Hailey, her voice cold as ice, demanded, “What do you want from me?”
Owen grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his arms, forcing her to sit on his lap. He gently stroked her pale cheek
with his cool fingertips, his filled with something heavier as he said, “What do you think | want, Hailey? Don’t you
know?”
Hailey turned her face away, unable to bear it. “Owen, do you really have to forcelike this?”
