Chapter 165
Isaac took a deep breath and asked, “Hailey, why did Owen do this?”
Hailey lowered her head, pressing her lips together.
When it cto the Dalton family, she had never intended to bring down the Dalton Group. After all, it was only
Aiden’s family that had wronged her, and Isaac and the others had always treated her kindly.
She wasn’t someone who couldn't see things clearly,
Now, because of her personal matters, Isaac had been dragged into this mess, and Hailey felt guilty about it.
Seeing her silent, Isaac sighed, gently ran his hand through her hair, and said in a soothing voice, “I'm not
blaming you. If you chose to break up with him, it must have been for a reason. Owen's crazy retaliation has
nothing to do with you. This is just business competition, Hailey. Lethandle it, and don’t go see him.”
After all, Hailey had called him ‘brother, and that made them family. He could never sacrifice Hailey just to
protect the
company.
“Isaac,” Hailey murmured, her eyes darkened. “I'm sorry.”
Isaac smiled and said, “Don’t say such silly things.”
Hailey’s eyes reddened, and she lowered her head.
Isaac shifted the topic. “It’s already noon. Holly knows we've been busy and will be bringing us lunch soon. I'll
call you when it’s ready, and you can ceat with us.”
“No need,” Hailey replied, “You two lovebirds don’t needto be the third wheel.”
“What third wheel? She's already preparing lunch for you too,” Isaac said with a smile. “That's settled then.
Unable to decline, Hailey gave a soft “Hmm” and smiled slightly.
After Isaac left, Hailey lowered her head, massaging her temples and taking a deep breath.
She hoped Owen would stop in time.
If not, going head-to-head with the Calhoun Group would be like an egg trying to break a rock-there’d be no way
out,
A week passed.
After the Monday meeting, Hailey returned to her office, her mind heavy with worries.

No one had expected Owen to be this ruthless.
Everyone thought he'd be reasonable, seeing as they were both from the four big families, and wouldn't go too
far.
But they were wrong.
Owen wasn’t holding back this time. It seemed like he wasn’t planning to leave any room for the Dalton Group.
The top-tier stars of Dalton Entertainment, their golden managers, and various high-level resources had almost
all been poached by Owen.
Moreover, other industry professionals were steering clear of the Dalton Group, with many artists breaking their
contracts.

Chapter 165
In just a week, the Dalton Group was already a shadow of its former self.
If this kept up, bankruptcy was inevitable.
000%
No one expected Owen to go this far, especially considering that in the past two years, the Calhoun Group had
grown rapidly and gained a significant influence in the entertainment industry.
Had Owen not specifically avoided targeting the Dalton Group, Harvest Films & TV would have already become
the top entertainment company in Wothaland.
In the afternoon, Isaac arranged to meet Owen.
Isaac had wanted to meet with Owen a week ago, but Owen had been avoiding him, refusing to agree. It took a
full week before they finally met.
Hailey didn’t go, staying hto wait for updates.

Their meeting was set for three in the afternoon, and it was short. Isaac had prepared a lot of questions, but to
his surprise, Owen only asked one thing when he arrived: “Is she not coming?”
Isaac paused before answering, “Hailey’s at home.”
Today, Owen wore a blue-black suit, not the usual pure black. He looked strikingly handsome, with a touch of
devilish charm added to his elegant demeanor.
Owen sneered softly, “Are you that afraid of me?”
Isaac bit his lip, saying, “Owen, don’t you think you're being childish?”
Owen didn’t respond, simply took a sip of his coffee.
“Dragging personal issues into business-this isn’t like you. You're not a child anymore; you can't let your
emotions get the better of you. Our families have worked together for years, and we're both from prestigious
backgrounds. You should know how much this impacts our relationship,” Isaac said, growing more agitated as he
spoke. But Owen gave no reply.
When Isaac finished speaking, Owen merely said, “Are you done? I'm leaving now.”
Owen stood up. Isaac was speechless. He felt like he'd just spoken a lot of nonsense.
“Owen, can’t you be a little more mature?” Isaac said again.
Owen stopped, tilted his head slightly, and with a faint smirk, said, “I'm mature. Why don’t you mind your own
business when it comes to my personal life?”
Isaac was at a loss for words.
This man was incredibly immature.
But there was nothing they could do about it.
Owen was too powerful, with all the leverage of youth and arrogance at his disposal.
The silent war between the Dalton and Calhoun families raged on.
The situation only grew worse.
In fact, many shareholders were already considering selling their stakes and walking away.
Hailey had bought up those shares at a low price, ensuring the Dalton Group wouldn't fall into outside hands.

But these efforts wouldn't save the Dalton Group.
If the copyright to Thrilling Suspense hadn't been sold, maybe the Dalton Group could still be saved, but now,
the copyright was firmly in Owen's hands.
Hailey was helpless.
Owen's pressure was like a massive web, trapping everyone close to her.
For the first tsince returning, Hailey felt powerless.
If she had known... If she had known, she would never have gotten involved with him.
She shouldn’t have gotten close to him, shouldn’t have fallen in love with him, shouldn't have been with him.
Hailey thought to herself, “This really is a karmic bond
What could she possibly do to make Owen stop?
Hailey stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, her face blank as she stared out.
This dragged on for another two weeks.
All the Dalton Group's business partners had cut ties, leaving the company isolated. With cash flow issues,
bankruptcy was inevitable.
The school year was about to start, and Hailey had taken a half-month leave from university to handle this crisis.
It seemed that she had no choice but to meet Owen now.
Last night, it had rained in Hallon City, and today, the weather was cool.
She wore a white shirt and jeans, her hair falling to her shoulders, with just a little makeup to make her look a bit
more refreshed.
Just as she was about to leave, she received a call from Isaac.
*Hailey, everything at the company has been taken care of. You can relax now.”
Hailey stopped in her tracks, feeling a bit incredulous. “How was it resolved?”
Isaac spoke softly, “The Davidson Group is willing to cooperate with us.”
The Davidson Group?” Hailey furrowed her brow. “The real estate company? Why would they want to cooperate
with us?”
Especially considering they'd be risking offending the Calhoun Group-this didn’t make sense.
“Don’t worry about it. Since the company’s situation is handled, you can rest easy,” Isaac reassured her gently.
