"I will, Dad."
Jonathan cast one more longing glance at his newborn granddaughter, then pulled his gaze away. "Take good care of the kid, will
you? I'm off."
As he stepped away, Everett caught up with him. "Dad, did youe all the way here just to see the baby?"
"What else? There's nothing forto worry about with you two."
Just as Everett was about to reply, Dorothy quietly waved him over, signaling him toe closer.
When he approached, she spoke in a whisper, "Could you... try to convince your father to stay in Eldorria City?"
"..." He was momentarily taken aback. "But you..."
"If I'm the one asking, it means I've already moved past that chapter in my heart! He's getting on in years, living abroad alone can
be lonely, even with people around. Let's have him stay, so he can spend more twith his grandchildren."

Seeing the way he looked at the child, Dorothy, ever so tender-hearted, couldn't bear to turn away.
Everett squeezed her hand gently, his voice warm. "Dorothy, | don't want you to feel ufortable."
"I'm not! | truly don't feel that way," she smiled. "In fact, | should thank him. If he hadn't brought you into this world, raised you
with care, where would | find such a wonderful husband?"
Seeing his hesitation, Dorothy urged, "Go on, before everyone leaves!"
Everett finally took a deep breath and nodded slowly. "Okay."
Once the father and son had left, Karen approached the bedside.
She had kept quiet while others were around, not wanting to put her best friend in a difficult spot.
"Dorothy, why insist on keeping his dad here? Have you otten all the wrongs he's done in the past?"
Dorothy smiled. "I haven't otten, but we have to move on. Not just for my sake, but for Everett's too."
"He's always so considerate, always thinking of me. That alone heals any resentment | might have had."
She just wanted a peaceful family life now.
Despite the past outrages and anger, Everett had given her everything he could. If she were to dwell on the past, when would it
ever end?
Dorothy felt that, especially during the holidays, Everett missed his parents, even though he never said it.
If Jonathan could stay in Eldorria City, it would ease a burden on Everett's heart.
This might be the only thing she could do for Everett.
Karen pursed her lips, still feeling indignant for her friend.
"But why should he be iven? He was the one who did wrong, always protecting Everett's mom, even trying to take away Abigail
and Langston!"
Karen remembered every detail.

The pain Jonathan had caused Dorothy was no less than Amanda's!
"What do you suggest | do then? Continue to hold a grudge against Everett?" Dorothy's smile was bitter-sweet. "Karen, I'm different
from you. I'm afraid of losing Everett."
Karen was always carefree around Jeffrey, staying or leaving as she pleased.
But Dorothy was different.
Their personalities were fundamentally different!
Having never had much to begin with, Dorothy cherished everything she had all the more.
She feared loss more than she desired possession.
"Alright, Dorothy, | just want you to be happy."
"I know! And | truly am happy."
