"I'm just worried, you know? If you guys say something off, my dad's temper can be like a ticking tbomb."
So, he stayed close to the door, not venturing far.
Just in case they stirred up any trouble, he wanted to be there in a flash.
"Your dad, he pulledaside to apologize."
Everett's handsface froze, "Apologize?"
"Yeah." Dorothy nodded, "Maybe he felt awkward doing it in front of you, but he wanted to say sorry topersonally."
Clearly, this took Everett by surprise.
Dorothy wrapped her arms around him, "Your parents, they love you a lot."

Everett gently caressed her cheek, "Trust me, all the love you've missed out on, I'll make up for it."
She believed him, of course, she did.
"Will you two cut it out? We're all waiting to see the bride!"
Jeffrey, holding Karen's hand, walked over with a mock look of disgust at their sweetness.
Karen smacked his arm hard, "What's your problem? Look at Everett, saying such moving things! And you? What can you do?"
Jeffrey immediately raised his hands as if taking an oath, "Babe, trust me, all the love you've missed out on, I'll make up for it!"
Everett glared at him, "You looking for trouble?"
Jeffrey chuckled, e on! It's a day of joy; no need for violence."
Dorothy, amused, smiled at Karen, "I love this life, everything feels soplete, sometimes... | feel like I'm living in a dream."
"Don't be silly, you're the bride today, you're supposed to be happy."
"Yeah."
Karen sighed, feeling a bit envious herself, "Everett really goes all out for you, even I'm jealous! He planned this whole wedding,
dropping everything at the office, just to make this day special for you."
Dorothy looked over at Everett, who was joking around with Jeffrey, and smiled.
"Yeah, his love is always flawless."
Karen patted her belly, "I'm not far off from going to the delivery room myself, and soon, it'll be your turn! This time, Everett will
get to experience what it's like to be a dad."
"Yeah." Dorothy nodded.

Jeffrey couldn't help but join in, "Speaking of which, Everett, you'll have to askfor advice when the timees! You might be
ahead ofin business, but when ites to taking care of babies, I'm a seasoned pro!"
"You've only done it once, right?" Karen raised an eyebrow, "Does Paige count too?"
Jeffrey turned pale at the mention!
"Hey, didn't we agree not to bring her up again? | meant, you've got another one on the way."
Dorothy couldn't help but laugh.
Everett wrapped his arm around her, "Do you like the wedding?"
"Of course, | love it!" She looked up at him and then walked over to pick the biggest, ripest strawberry, "But... you don't have to
throw a big party foranymore. From now on, I'm yours, officially."
No longer just the girl he had to work hard to get close to.
She was his wife, the mother of his child.
