"What's up?" Dorothy asked almost reflexively.
"Something really important."
That answer was as good as saying nothing.
Dorothy rolled her eyes and took a seat, "Why all the secrecy? You're even keepingin the dark?"
Everett chuckled, "I'm not keeping secrets from you, it's just not the right tfor you to know."
"Alright then." She didn't press further, pletely trusting him.
After playing with Abigail and Langston for a while, Everett went to tuck them into bed in the kids' room before heading back to the
master bedroom.
Dorothy was busy giving instructions to a subordinate, gesticulating with her hands as if the other person could see her.
He smirked, grabbed a dark-colored bathrobe, and headed into the bathroom.

Shortly after, there was a knock on the door.
"Everett, are you done showering?"
He immediately turned off the water, wrapped himself in a towel, and opened the door, "What's up?"
Seeing Everett shirtless, Dorothy paused for a moment, her cheeks flushing a deep pink, "I, uh, wanted to ask you something about
work..."
He thought she was feeling unwell or something.
"You go ahead and shower. We can talk after!" Dorothy said with a suppressed smile, turning to iron Everett's suit for the next day.
Watching her small figure confidently head into the walk-in closet, he felt at ease and returned to the bathroom.
He casually checked his phone, finding several unread messages.
[Mr. Lopez, everything has been arranged as you instructed.[]
[Mr. Lopez, I've retrieved the item from the safe. I've checked it thoroughly, no damage or stains.[]
Everett's eyes lit up as he replied to each message.

In the master bedroom's walk-in closet, Dorothy meticulously ironed his suit.
They didn't have a housekeeper, so these chores fell to her.
Everett had suggested hiring someone a few times to ease Dorothy's burden, but she declined.
Now, influenced by him, Dorothy also felt that having an extra person around would be too strange!
Besides, the chores weren't that demanding. Tasks like cleaning the floors were often done by Everett who woke up early to handle
them. Dorothy took care of the smaller tasks, like ironing clothes and folding towels.
As a wife, she genuinely enjoyed these moments.
Thinking of her husband wearing the suit she had ironed, sitting at the center of a boardroom - the feeling was beyond words.
After finishing the suit, Dorothy went to collect Everett's clothes from today to prepare them for laundry.

She habitually emptied his pockets.
And today, she actually found something!
It was a receipt.
Dorothy unfolded it and saw that it was from an orchard, a receipt for a deposit on strawberries amounting to $20,000.
"$20,000?!"
She rubbed her eyes and looked again under the light.
Indeed, it was $20,000.
"What does Everett need $20,000 worth of strawberries for? Wait... and that's just the deposit!"
She grabbed the receipt, intending to confront Everett, but halted before leaving the closet.
A possibility dawned on her.
Perhaps Everett wanted to show appreciation to his team, ordering a batch of strawberries as a treat!
Running to him with questions might seem as though she was snooping around, doubting his intentions.
