Chapter 201 “Are you sulking for no reason? Could it be... jealousy?” He leaned in, his lips grazing her ear. His warm breath fanned her cheek, filled with the intoxicating scent of masculinity that made her blush.
“No, no, don’t get me wrong. How could | be jealous?” Aurelia hastily denied, shaking her head so vigorously it was like a bobblehead. “I've always strictly adhered to our agreement, never harboring any inappropriate thoughts about you. Rest assured, even if you were the last man on Earth, | wouldn't have any feelings for you. Truly.” Hearing her words, Leopold's face got gloomy discreetly. Although she was being modest, his ego was still bruised by her words.
“Good, remember that. You're not entitled to.” Leopold said coldly.
Her heart twinged slightly, “I know, always mindful.” She was just a minor character, not worthy of harboring feelings for him.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSlipping her hand out of his, Aurelia stood, “I...should get off work now.” He lifted his cup of coffee, taking a sip to mask his fleeting emotions, “Wait for me back at the apartment.” After a brief pause, he added, “l want to read to the babies.” “Okay.” She responded quietly, exiting the room.
Leopold's gaze fell on his cufflinks with a small smile.
He might not like this woman, but the cufflinks were indeed creative.
That evening, he devoured two servings of steak and two bowls of chowder, his lost appetite finally returning.
Aurelia drew in a breath, seriously wondering if he had starved himself for days, seemingly having lost weight.
Laura, knowing the two had reconciled, was overjoyed.
After dinner, she tactfully retreated to her room, leaving them to their private world.
Aurelia sunk into the couch, Leopold rested his head on her belly, talking to their unborn children.
These past few days, he had been alone in the villa, feeling hollow and restless, even breathing felt stifling.
He must have missed their babies.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAurelia gently stroked her belly, “In these few days you've been away, the babies seemed unhappy, always kicking. It's disrupted my sleep, so I've even got dark circles under my eyes. Maybe next time you could leave a voice recording, so if we argue again, | can play it for them, and they'll sleep peacefully.” Leopold looked disheveled, lifting a hand to gently hold her chin, his expression serious and somber, “You're expecting a next time?” She recoiled slightly, “l mean, just in case.” “There’s no ‘just in case’, if you dare to give me the silent treatment again, there'll be consequences.” He spat out the threat word by word.
She stuck out her tongue at him, his natural dominative nature clashing with her innate rebellious spirit, arguments were inevitable, “What if you're the one giving me the silent treatment?” “Do | seem that irrational?” “Who knows?” As she replied, her phone rang, interrupting their banter. It was a call from Avery.
“Sister, we've got trouble. Someone's causing a ruckus in our cousin's live stream, accusing her of being a homewrecker” What? Aurelia’s heart skipped a beat as she quickly unlocked her phone.
Jelena’s ID was Sweet Jelly, In her live stream, people were spamming comments, accusing her of being a mistress, seducing a married man.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out who was behind this. It was likely Sheryl.
Despite the chaos, Jelena managed to maintain her composure, continuing her stream and ignoring the trolls, Thankfully, the trolls were quickly blocked and removed.
But the damage was done, and some fans started questioning the situation.
Aurelia swiftly posted comments in support of her cousin: [Circulating rumors is easy, debunking them is hard.] [Clearly someone from the same industry is jealous of Jelly’s beauty and trying to tarnish her image.] [Hired trolls repeating the same comments over and over, they aren't even trying to hide it. So unprofessional.] Leopold glanced at the screen, quickly recognizing the woman as Fredric’s recent rumored companion. “Do you know her?” He asked.
Aurelia hesitated for a moment before whispering, “She’s my cousin.”
