Chapter 452 Severing the Last Thread
John carefully, almost reverently, slipped the recorder back into his pocket and rasped, “Lily, let's go
home..”
She thought he was hopeless beyond saving.
Any couple caught in the haze of love could make lofty vows. But who, when the relationship had crumbled to
dust, still honored those promises?
The truth was, such declarations were nothing more than lies spun under the influence of hormones.
“Lily, let's go home.”
When she showed no intention of taking his hand, no move to walk back w paler.
He stepped forward, intending to grab her hand and simply take her with him.
But before he could touch her, James's foot slammed hard into his chest.
“Get lost! Stay away from Lily!”
Already unsteady, John went down hard, pain tearing through him.
Once upon a time, Lily would have been heartbroken to see him like this.
Even a small cut on his hand had been enough to make her eyes turn red with worry.
Now, he searched her gaze for a flicker of that concert.

But no matter how desperately he looked, he found nothing-only the deep, unmasked loathing that eur him to
the bone.
She didn’t go back with him.
Instead, he heard her say to James, “Where were we? Oh right-kissing. Then slunatic showed up out. of

She'd called him bad luck. Called him a nutcase...
The pain in his chest made it almost impossible to breathe.
Even so, watching James carry her away, he forced the words out, hoarse and desperate. “Lily, don’t go back

Once, she'd dreamed of him caring for her that much-enough to stay away from Elsa completely.
But she had long since broken free from the prison of that obsession.
Whether he saw Elsa or played out sblissful romance with her.. it no longer mattered at all.

Her voice made a faint light flare again in his deadened eyes
Every fight they’d had in the past had been because of Elsa.

The night wind seemed to blow the last trace of color from his lips.
He couldn't accept that she truly didn’t care about him anymore.

She’d said it he wasn’t even worn to carry James's shoes.
John’s face was ashen, his soul hollowed out.
Before he could drag himself out of that crushing despair, James's cool voice cut in.
“John, I love Lily. My confession and everything | do for her have nothing to do with her pregnancy. I love her
