Allison's expression darkened as she remembered Verruckt. Kellan, catching on, looked at her with concern.
“Allison, did you kill him?”
If she had, things would be far riskier for her in basement level one. It wasn’t the kind of place where you could
hide a body.
Allison quickly shook her head. “I met the lab’s secret owner today. He didn’t speak, but his men broke that
man’s jaw. He's probably dead already, likely in Room 9, a slaughterhouse.”
Gordon's expression turned serious. “I've looked into their leader before. He's a ruthless man who even kills his
own people. If you're dealing with him, you're in serious danger, Allison.”
Just from the way they spoke, the lab sounded like a terrifying place. Kellan noticed Allison’s unease and asked,
“Is the boss threatening you?”
“Not yet, but we need to act fast.” Allison took a deep breath. “I've been assigned to a deeper level. My instincts

Kellan grabbed a blank piece of paper and began sketching. “I've memorized the layout for the first floor and
basement level one.”
He sketched as he spoke, capturing every detail, from the number of people in each office to every camera's
position.
Allison glanced at the map. Kellan’s memory was almost photographic, and the camera placements matched the
network Gordon and Amya had set up.
After a moment, she pointed to the location of the lab on basement level one.
“Lilian should be here. | have the central control chip for this level.”
She handed the chip to Gordon, who immediately plugged it into the computer and began typing.
“Let’s have a look.”
After inputting his own code, he handed the chip back to Allison.
“Once you plug this into the main console, | can control the basement level one’s systems.”
Allison nodded.
