Chapter 298: Changing Situation

"Shifters are going missing all over the packs and territories," remarked Tracy as she made her way to the

kitchen. With a flick of her hand, she started the coffee machine and pulled open the cabinets before finding the

bag of beef jerky that Inez had set aside. "It's just not this territory if that is what you are feeling guilty about.

This has nothing to do with you. It is not a 'you’ problem; | am telling you this just in case you start spiralling into

a whirlpool of guilt and concern."

Inez raised her head and exclaimed, "Since when did shifters start going missing?" Why didn’t she know

seeing right through her. Sighing, she ran her hand through her hair. "There is no need to think about it too

trying to keep these disappearances a secret, it's rare for anyone to know just what is going on outside."

There was a soft ding, and Tracy turned to look at the coffee machine. realising that the mug was almost filled,

she walked over and replaced the mug of latte before whipping her head around and questioning, "What do you

want? A latte or a mug of black coffee, like the soul of your mate."

"A latte will be fine," Inez replied, her brows were still furrowed, and she looked a bit—no, a lot worried. The

Silence fell over the entire lodge, with just the whirring of the coffee machine echoing.

"It feels wrong," finally, Inez spoke up. She twiddled with her thumbs and didn’t even look up when Tracy set

her head and looked at Tracy, who smiled at her. However, there was a note of derisiveness in her smile as she

said to Inez, "You are kind and way too naive, Inez. People in power don’t usually care for the lives of those who

do serve any purpose for them, you know? Even gods are the same. If you don’t serve them any purpose, even
