Chapter 279: To A Long Drive (2) "Where are we going?" Inez asked. She had no idea how many times she had asked this dumb question, but hey, if you were more or less kidnapped and then taken on a ride without a set destination, so would you, even if the person who did it was your friend. As for her, the situation was even more complicated, as Tracy was not her friend.
"I told you. We are going on a long drive," replied Tracy. Her eyes were still focused on the road as she drove her RV. When the woman told her that she wanted to go on a long drive, Inez had expected a simple drive around the coastline and then returning to the pack. But- She turned and looked at the board in front of her and sighed. What were they doing fifty kilometres away from the territory? And where exactly was Tracy taking her to? However, after being brushed off for like ten or maybe twenty times, Inez knew that the woman was not going to answer her question. So what was the point in even asking the srepetitive question again and again? It would have made more sense if she had told her where she was taking her the first time.
Staring at the concrete road that was getting darker and darker with each passing minute, Inez finally couldn't help it anymore. "Just in case you are thinking of killingand buryingsomewhere unknown, can you mark my grave? That way, someone might pay respects toafter I am gone." "Burying you and then marking your grave will ruin the complete point of taking you so far and killing you. Not to mention that psychopathic mate of yours will huntdown." Tracy spoke without even looking at her. Her grey eyes were still locked on the street, and she was muttering what sounded like coordinates.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhere the hell was she taking her? It was as if the woman knew where they had to go, but she didn't know what that place was called. How could that be even possible? But looking at it, Inez had a feeling that it was quite possible. How? She was just not clear about it. Maybe sday, when Tracy was feeling extra chatty or had taken a few sips of vodka or something like that.
"I don't get drunk," as if reading her thoughts, the woman beside spoke up.
Inez's mouth fell open. "Did you just—" "You are way too expressive." Tracy rolled her eyes. She glanced at Inez with a smile on her lips. "You might not know this, but your face speaks a lot even when your mouth is shut." This was news to her.
She blinked her eyes. "But-" "Your mate still has a long way to go before he can start understanding your silence," scoffed Tracy with a roll of her eyes.
"He is not my mate," Inez corrected the woman.
"But he will be, or you are playing with him?" "Of course not." "Then there it is." Inez's brows furrowed as she said, "It's not that simple." Why was it always black or white for this woman? "It is that simple," asserted Tracy; her eyes were back on the road. She said to Inez, "There is no need for you to complicate matters for yourself. What is the point of worrying about things when you know that in the end you are going to listen to your heart?" Inez opened her mouth to speak, but she turned quiet soon enough. Was that what she was trying to do? Complicating things for herself? Maybe she was.
Inez turned silent as her thoughts drifted off.
However, her thoughts cto an abrupt stop when the RV cto a stop. She raised her head and looked in the direction of the witch beside her and questioned, "What was that?" "It seems like gas ran out." Tracy was frowning hard as if she herself didn't expect it to happen, which was simply beyond Inez's comprehension.
"You were the one who brought us here! How can you not know how much gas you will need?" Inez questioned. She opened her arms, which she had crossed over her chest instinctively, while she was lost in thought. She did it always, whenever something was bothering her.
"I didn't know it would take us so far." "What do you mean? What took us so far?" Inez asked.
However, Tracy seemed to be lost in her thoughts. She was muttering under her breath, and Inez did catch a few words, but they seemed to be going over her head.
"Always the same... they always do this. I wonder, why they have to interfere so much..." "Tracy," Inez called the witch tentatively, but she simply threw her head back and ran her hands through her hair. She seemed frustrated, angry even, and it frustrated Inez as well. Just what the hell was going on?
However, before she could question Tracy, the woman dropped her hands onto her sides and stated in a low voice, "Well, I need to go and grab sgas." Hearing her resigned tone, Inez frowned. It was as if the woman didn't want to go, but she had to go. "Just what-"
Before she could finish her question, Tracy jumped out of her driver's seat and went to the back of the RV.
m Before she could even stop the even woman tracy ha had already taken out the container and turned to her. "I will go and get the gas. I have already taken a look at the GPS; the gas station is fifteen minutes away, thirty if I go on foot. You stay inside the RV and don't go out-" Her eyes fell out of focus, and she hissed angrily, "Fine!" And as her eyes snapped back, she stared at Inez and said to her, "You can go outside if you want." "That sounds like a threat." "It is." "And yet you wantto go outside?" "Well, you have to."
She spoke with a 'duh' tone before turning around and heading out of the RV. Inez watched her go and sighed, "Well, thank you for tellingeverything."
