Chapter 272: Protected "My point still stands." She sits up straight, her eyes flashing with another clap of thunder; they were gleaming in the shadows of the only lamp burning in the room. "Without me, you wouldn't even know anything, Inez. Yes, you might know that your pack is in danger, that the witches are attacking your pack, but you wouldn't know anything else. Without me, you would be dead. You might be upset withfor not providing answers, but think about it carefully. If I weren't here, what would you do?" "From whom would you demand answers? My presence here is a gift; do not take it for granted. I have shown you mercy when no one else did, Inez." The disappointment and anger in her tone was like a whip cracking on her back, and Inez flinched. All of a sudden, all the anger and confusion that was brewing within her went down the slump right then and there. Tracy was right. She had saved her life even when she could have left her to die. Without her, that witch might have succeeded in kidnapping her, and by now, the witches might already have sacrificed her to whatever voodoo they wanted to perform.
She had shown her kindness, and yet here she was lashing out at her.
But what was she supposed to do? Tracy was the only one who had the answers to her questions. Yet she was not giving even a single one to her, wouldn't it make her frustrated? She was not asking for a lot, or was she? But still, it seemed like she had overstepped her boundaries and hurt Tracy.

It's just a lot forto take in, and when you say that this pack will be in danger because of me, I There was a sharp knock on the door, and before she could even finish what she was saying, the door of her lodge started to tremble under the might of the person standing outside.
** Third Eye might be an annoying companion, but he knew things better than the rest of them; at least he knew how the trespassing happened, except for the fact that the man could be frustrating sometimes, as he already said it earlier.
"I am telling you that just because we drink the water, we are not related. That does not make us cousins or whatsoever." Finn retorted, looking highly agitated. Killian didn't even have the slightest bit of an idea why his beta was so engrossed in this stupid discussion, but he was, and he was giving it his all.
Third Eye shook his head. His gaze slid up, and he smirked up at Finn, who seemed to be getting frustrated with each passing second. "...I guess that's how biology works." "No, it doesn't." "It does. We are all drinking the srecycled water. So yeah, technically speaking, we are cousins; at least we are related. So, you should stop talking about us, witch hunters, being different from you shifters. In the end, we are all the same." "So, do we have a family reunion or something of the sort when we go to the kitchen every time?" Ajax chimed in from the side.
Finn narrowed his eyes and huffed. "By that logic, I am related to Ruth." "You all are related to Ruth; he is a dog, and you all are dogs in a way," said Third Eye, chortling when Finn gave him the stinky eye.
"Hold up. Does that makerelated to soup? The one that Edira cooked in the morning? Dang, I didn't know that I was able to do that-eating my own cousin." Ajax added more fuel to the fire, making the entire conversation even more stupid than it already was.
"How did you even cto that conclusion?" Laxus asked despite the sheer shock that he felt at that very moment.
"I mean, soup is made from water, isn't it? Just add in sextra ingredients. So technically it's like a cousin to water, just the fancy one who got all those prim and proper lessons." Ajax explained with a grin.
"And you are an idiot," snapped Finn.
Laxus raised a brow. "Then coffee must be the angry uncle who is angry at everyone for absolutely no reason?" "Laxus!"
Their absurdity finally got on his last nerve. Killian clenched and unclenched his fingers before m snapping. "Did you find the reason why the witches were able to trespass on the territory last night?" He asked, interrupting their discussion without the slightest bit of guilt.
"I did." Third Eye pointed to the sigil that he had drawn with the blood of a witch and a bat mixed in together with fae water. He circled the smallest circle inside which he had written the mumes to keep the protectors of the dark magic away from the Blood Hill Pack. "You see this? Someone has rewritten these runes. They knew what they were doing and turned the entire sigil upside down, which means that they actually strengthened the dark witch with magic instead of draining her of strength like this sigil was supposed to do." "You mean to say that we have a runemaster hiding in the territory?" Matt asked, pushing up his glasses as he peered down the sigils.
"A runemaster? No. But certainly another witch or wizard," said Third Eye with a shake of his head. "These runes are something that only the dark ones learn. I am quite certain of that. So whoever this traitor is, he or she is certainly a dark one."
His words sat heavily in the air, causing another growl to rip from Killian's throat. He didn't feel good at all. Oh, he certainly did not. The fact that there was someone so powerful, so knowledgeable about the dark magic hiding in his pack, didn't sit right with him. Not at all. He glanced at Third Eye and questioned, "Then tell me, can you trace this traitor down?" Share to your friends
