Chapter 413

Since it was Harold's birthday, Diana didn't want to make things too ugly, so she didn't argue with Alice.

However, Alice couldn't read the room as she continued bragging about how excellent her future daughter-in-law

was. Paul and Joe were seated and looked utterly smug like they had won the lottery of life.

The goldenseal chicken soup was served a while ago, so the temperature was just perfect. Yolanda was about to

drink the soup when she paused for a while and placed down her soup spoon immediately.

"This soup cannot be consumed."

"What is it?"

Everyone at the dining table was shocked by Yolanda's sudden declaration. Alice had even accidentally tipped

over her soup bowl, causing the soup to splatter all over her as she screamed, "Ouch! It burns!"

Paul and Joe hastily grabbed napkins to help wipe Alice's arms and clothes clean of the remnants of the soup.

"Why the heck did you have to say that? Are you trying to film a jumpscare?"

Alice massaged her arms which were reddened and burnt from the soup and yelled, "Read the room, would you?

Bumpkins will remain bumpkins forever."

"What's going on with you, Yolanda?" Harold's face darkened as he asked. "What did you say cannot be

consumed?"

"There's something wrong with the soup."

Yolanda looked at everyone at the dining table. So far, no one had consumed any goldenseal chicken soup yet.

"I watched the helper cook this soup before my very eyes. What could be wrong with it?" Diana grumbled.

"Yolanda, it's your father's birthday today. Cut it out."

"The goldenseal in the soup is fake. If you consthis soup, you'll likely be poisoned."

"How's that possible?" Diana retorted. "The goldenseal was a gift from your Aunt Eleanor.

"How could she possibly have sent over a fake one?"

"Don't pretend like you know it all," said Paul with disdain. "If you're trying to impress all of us, you've got to pick

a better tto do so. Did you think we'd believe in your nonsense?"

He didn't believe that Yolanda could tell if the goldenseal was real or fake.

"Stop your nonsense. Yolanda. Your Aunt Eleanor may be a little frugal at times, but she won't send over

anything counterfeit."

Even if Diana was very unhappy with Eleanor, she was still Diana's sister. She didn't believe that Eleanor would

gift her a fake goldenseal since consuming fake herbs could lead to food poisoning and death.

Eleanor and she were sisters. Why would Eleanor want her dead, right?

Eleanor and Diana were partners in a business now, and their relationship was way better than the last time

when Bailee was looking for a job. Diana refused to believe anything Yolanda had to say.

"Say, Diana, don't just focus on Yvonne in your care. You got to bring Yolanda out to explore the world as well."

Alice mocked her.

"She's just been released from the juvenile detention center for a few days. | reckon that she doesn't even know

what a goldenseal looks like. How shamefully ignorant!"

Alice had deliberately said all that to rile Diana up while reminding everyone present of Yolanda's past in the

juvenile detention center.

Lo and behold, Diana's face fell.

It was a shameful thing for Diana that Yolanda was once in a juvenile detention center. It had caused her loads of

embarrassment in the aristocratic ladies’ circle, and the other Hendersons had complained that she didn't know

how to educate her daughter properly.

"Shut up, Yolanda. If you don't want to eat, go to your room upstairs."

Diana had always remembered Harold's words to be kinder to Yolanda, but Yolanda didn't make it easy for her.

"Yolanda..."
