Chapter 689 It was late into the night. The world outside was shrouded in darkness, while the ward was softly lit by a bedside lamp. The shadows of the night made everything inside the hospital room appear soft and inviting.
The first thing Brad saw when he woke up was the person he'd been yearning for. His eyes lit up as he stared at Nadine. "Is that you, Nadine?" As soon as he felt the warmth of her hand, he knew it wasn't a dream. It was real! Nadine was right here, by his side.
Unlike Brad, who was surprised and filled with joy, Nadine's expression was notably calm. The only reason she had stayed behind to take care of him was because Daniel had gone back to the company to handle an important deal and couldn't be here.

Before coming to Brad's room, she first checked in on Adam. He was on a respirator and still under the effects of the anesthesia, so she stayed in the ICU for a short while before stepping out.
Brad's condition was much less severe than Adam's. He only needed to be monitored for a few days and could be discharged once the medication wore off, and the test results cback normal.
While she was taking care of Brad, her mind wandered back to when they had first gotten married six years ago, and she hadn't even noticed Brad was already awake.
Nadine only snapped out of it when she realized that Brad was holding her hand. The first thing she did was pull her hand away. "I'm glad you're awake. I'll go get the doctor." Brad couldn't move his right arm because it was injured, and a needle was inserted in the back of his left hand. As he gripped Nadine's hand tightly the pressure caused blood to flow back into the IV line, turning the once- clear tube red.
The more she tried to pull away, the tighter he held on, causing more blood to flow into the IV. "Don't go, Nad! Don't call the doctor. Just stay withfor a bit. Let's sit like this for a moment." For him, moments like these were incredibly precious. He held onto Nadine's hand like a child denied sweets, refusing to let go no matter what. He relished these moments. Even if they didn't say or do anything, just holding her hand and feeling her warmth was more than enough for him.
As more blood filled the IV tube, turning a large section deep red, Nadine was taken aback by his reckless behavior and had no choice but to stop resisting. "I must've wronged you in my previous life to deserve this." She groaned.
Since she had decided to divorce Brad, she saw no reason to drag things out. Brad's refusal to let her go only made her feel more irritated. But she forced herself to relax, letting him hold her hand.

A triumphant smile crept onto his handsface when he got what he wanted. Knowing he had gotten his way he didn't say another word and just held onto Nadine's hand, savoring this rare moment of tranquility.
Nadine used to stick to him like glue.
As soon as he got hfrom work, m she'd be all over hing. He had mild germaphobia and disliked being touched by people he didn't care for. Every tshe touched him, he'd pull away with a scowl.
However, she was never afraid of him. Nadine would boldly take his hand and insist on walking him to his study. It was only a short distance, nothing worth making a fuss over, but she insisted on doing it. In that regard, she was like a stubborn child.
