Chapter 665 Brad's gastritis left him bedridden for three days and not once did he hear from Nadine. He had tried calling and messaging her, but it was as if she had vanished into thin air. She didn't answer his calls or respond to his texts.
It reminded him of the early days of their marriage. Once he was back on his feet, he went to work, and without fail, Nadine would ask if he had eaten lunch every day at noon and what he had eaten.

It dawned on him that loving someone could make one feel so small and insignificant. He couldn't help but ponder. If he had been kinder to her back then, would things have turned out differently? It had been three days since he last saw Nadine. His eyes lit up, and he looked at her with a mixture of nervousness and hope, a rare smile cracking through his usual stoic expression. He was so nervous that he gulped.
While Brad fidgeted with nerves and anticipation, Nadine appeared calm and collected. Her expression was stoic as she glanced at him coldly. Deep down, however, she was taken aback. She couldn't believe that this scruffy, unkempt man was the charming Brad she once knew.
If it weren't for the nameplate at the head of his bed and Cameron standing right beside him, she wouldn't have believed her eyes. But her surprise lasted only a moment before she swiftly regained her composure.
Looking at the hopeful Brad, she responded, "Yeah." Her expression was apathetic, just like how Brad had treated her years ago.
The smile on his face froze and gradually disappeared. The light in his eyes dimmed as well. "I'm so sorry, Nadine! Everything that happened last twas my fault! I didn't protect you well enough. I promise it won't happen again, okay?" Nadine was aware that promises only hold weight when made by those who ha ve had a conscience or truly cared about her. If someone was heartless or didn't take their promises seriously, then it was all just empty words. Thus, she remained clear-headed and composed as she lifted her gaze.

That little hassle from Evelyn was nothing in comparison. Besides, she had already settled the score with Jean, so she didn't need Brad's belated sympathy or guilt.
The last flicker of light in his eyes finally went out as he gazed at Nadine. He had so much he wanted to say to her, but it all turned into a lump in his throat. He couldn't swallow it down or let it out, and in the end, it left a bitter taste in his mouth. "Nad, I..."
Nadine didn't feel a thing as she saw Brad in this state. "Brad, I'm here to find out when you'll be able to givethe divorcé certificate. If you can't givethat, I'll look for other solutions. The main reason I'm here is to make myself clear. I'm determined to end this marriage! "Whether you want a divorce or not doesn't concern me. I'm asking for this divorce to set you free, and I hope you'll do the sfor me."
Honestly, it pained her to see Brad looking so lost and defeated. But for both of them to be free of this, she had to harden her resolve. This was no tto be soft-hearted.
