Do you really think I'd believe that a self-serving narcissist like you would genuinely want to help me? Please, there's no way that would happen." Evelyn Middleton-helping her? Nadine wouldn't believe it even if her life depended on it.

She kept her condescending tone and retorted, "Look, your divorce benefits me, Jeanie, and the entire Hamilton family. So, why wouldn't I give you a hand? If you succeed, it works out great for our family. Why would I make things harder for myself? "Believe it or not, I genuinely want to help you! But since you don't trust me, forget I said anything. Goodbye!" With that, she hung up. However, she was certain Nadine would call her back because she desperately wanted out of her marriage.
Nadine stared at her phone in disbelief. Evelyn's words couldn't be trusted, but she had a point. Jean and the Hamilton family would benefit the most after their divorce. This was a golden opportunity for Evelyn; she had no reason to deceive Nadine.
After hesitating for a while, Nadine left her room to discuss Evelyn's proposal with Avery. The latter's initial reaction mirrored Nadine's. "Babe, I'm not buying what Evelyn's selling. That woman despises you. There's no way she'd help you!" She added after a pause, "But there's struth to what she said. If you get divorced, Jean and the Hamilton family stand to gain the most. In that light, it seems like she really does want to help you with the divorce. I think we can trust her." Sebastian, who had been deep in thought on the couch, finally spoke up. "Why don't you ask Evelyn what her plan is? See what she has in mind. If it's feasible, I don't see why we couldn't go along with it." His suggestion was for Nadine to cut off contact with Brad entirely. If the two of them went three months without contact, he would eventually give up on his own. Even though his plan was feasible, it needed too much time-at least three months-and Nadine needed things to end sooner. So, she ruled it out.
After discussing among themselves, the three of them agreed that Nadine should at least hear Evelyn out. If her plan sounded viable, she could give it a shot.
Not expecting much, Nadine called Evelyn back. "Alright, Evelyn. Let's hear it. If your plan is solid, I'll go along with it." Evelyn was thrilled to get the answer she wanted. "My plan is simple. You just need to go to the hospital and take care of Brad. Be as mean to him as you can- the worse, the better!" "Are you sure that will work, Evelyn?" Nadine questioned, thinking that her plan was a waste of time. After all she had already gone down that road, and it hadn't worked. Yet, Evelyn wanted her to go through with it again. It felt like a fruitless endeavor.
Evelyn chuckled. "I'm not asking you to look after him 24/7. You just have to be a little colder and distant when you're with him. I'll have Jean look after him as well. So, the two of you can play good cop, bad cop. Who do you think will have a better chance of getting through to him?" Even though her reasons were sound, Nadine still thought it was a bad idea.

to change her mind, Evelyn didn't bother to argue further. "Fine, do m whatever you want. X'm not the one desperate for a divorce, after all!" Without even saying goodbye, she hung up.
After listening to the conversation, Avery and Sebastian looked at Nadine, who wore a troubled om expression. "I think the old hag might actually be onto something this time."
"I think so too. Jean is Brad's first love. When she pulls out the aom waterworks, you're toast. Why don't you follow Evelyn's plan and look after Brad with Jean to highlight her strengths?" Sebastian chimed in. Nadine thought it over and realized she didn't have a better idea. "I guess I'll go along with it for now. Once Brad falls for Jean again, my job will be done."
