Chapter 537
Serenity had thought about it before. Just what sort of person could knock up Clara and force her to
have his child despite not being married?
Given the circumstances, the only explanation why Clara had chosen to bear his child instead of
aborting it was because she loved him.
“How… how did you know?” asked Serenity with surprise.
Jackson gently brushed a strand of hair back over her ear. “Do you think I wouldn’t care about your
workplace? Since you decided to stay with them, it’s only natural that I ran a check on the people
working there.

knew he was obsessive, but not to this extent.
Seeing her remain completely silent, a slight frown appeared on Jackson’s face. With a tinge of
sadness in his eyes, he asked, What, you don’t like what I’m doing? Do you think I’m spying on you?”
Serenity shook her head. “No, I understand you’re just worried about my safety.”
Jackson was surprised by her response. So, she understood! The gloominess in his eyes dissipated
and was replaced by a joyful look
“Oh, um… what sort of person is Yanny’s father?” asked Serenity.
“It’s Wilson Birch.”
This left Serenity dumbfounded once more. She heard him utter that name clearly, but….
Was Jackson really referring to the Wilson Birch in her mind?!
“Judging from your reaction, you seem to know who Wilson is.”
To confirm her suspicion, she asked, “Are you talking about the Wilson Birch? From the Birch Group?”
“Yes, that’s him,” replied Jackson.
Serenity pondered in silence. She knew Wilson from back when she was still a lawyer. She
remembered a senior colleague mentioning a case in which Wilson had served as a key witness,
whose testimony ultimately led to a successful conviction.
The defendant was
Serenity felt a chill run down her spine when the surname of the defendant flashed through her mind. If
her memory served her right, the person’s surname was “Wells”.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmCould it be a mere coincidence? Or perhaps the defendant really was Clara? The mere idea of such a
possibility made Serenity tense up.
She bit her lip nervously and glanced up at Jackson. “Then.. do you remember if Wilson testified in
court.
Before she could end her sentence, Jackson responded. “Back then, Clara Wells was sentenced to 3
years and 6 months imprisonment as a result of Wilson’s testimony.”
Serenity’s heart was suddenly seized with pain. As if Wilson’s testimony wasn’t bad enough, to add
insult to injury, forced to bear his child.
“Then, do you know what was the reason behind Clara’s trial and subsequent imprisonment?” asked
Jackson.

He was surprised that Serenity knew Wilson had testified against Clara in court. Now that he thought
about it, it made sense given she had still been a lawyer then. What’s more, the lawsuit between
Wilson and Clara had been quite a sensation in the city.
