Jack pretended to still be heavily injured as he clutched his chest and adjusted his speed, slowly descending to the
ground.
Triton naturally slowed down as well, but he took the chance to get within fifteen meters of Jack.
At that distance, there was no way Jack would be able to run away. Even if Jack wanted to avoid his attack, there
was no way to do that at this distance.
Triton let out a sigh of relief as well after getting closer. He had a pleased smile and an amused look on his face,
looking like a cat that had just caught its prey.
Jack took a deep breath as he slowly turned around to look at Triton with complete calmness.
When Triton saw Jack's calm expression, his lips froze, and he frowned slightly. That was Triton's first time facing
Jack.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe had heard a lot about Jack's exploits before this and knew that Jack never showed much emotion. He never
expected Jack to remain so calm even at a moment like this. It was as if whatever was happening did not threaten
Jack at all.
Triton wondered if Jack just had a naturally cold face or if there was something wrong with Jack's head.
Regardless, it did not matter. Jack would not be able to escape his grasp. Triton narrowed his eyes slightly as he
started to measure Jack up as if he was thinking about what torture methods he would inflict upon Jack.
Triton's tone was very carefree. It was evident he was in a good mood.
"You don't seem nervous at all. Have you already accepted your inevitable fate?"
Jack shook his head slightly without answering Triton's question.
Triton did not mind. It did not matter if Jack was speaking or not since everything would be revealed soon enough.
Triton held his head high and declared, "Brat, you humiliated Star Continent back then, and completely trampled
over the dignity of our warriors. You should have thought of the price you would be paying today."
Jack's expression suddenly changed after hearing what Triton had to say.
Jack's lips curled up as he sneered, "Are all the warriors of Star Continent really that good at twisting the truth? You
were clearly the ones who tried to cause me trouble in the first place, but you talk as if it was the other way
around."
Triton frowned as his expression stiffened.
Jack was telling the truth. Triton had already looked into it, and the source of the conflict was indeed caused by
those idiots trying to cause Jack trouble. However, the situation had been quite special.
No one expected that Jack would actually be a warrior at the peak!
However, there was no point in talking about that anymore.
Triton scoffed as he said coldly, "There's no need to bring that up. Back then, Percy had already apologized to you,
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmbut you refused to let the matter go and killed two of our men. That was a clear sign that you were declaring war
on us!"
Jack tilted his head away slightly, not even bothering to look at Triton.
He continued in a cold tone, "Don't you think it's funny for you to say that? They went on the stage to kill me, yet
they expect everything to be resolved with just a simple apology. If they could aim for my life, why couldn't I do the
same? An eye for an eye, this is a rule that'll never change."
Triton's face started to redden indignantly at Jack's words. He suddenly realized that he was nowhere near as skilled
as Jack when it came to words!
So, Triton decided to just avoid the topic. "Fine! There's no point in talking about this anymore. Jack, I'll give you a
chance to save yourself right now. If you answer all my questions obediently, I'll let you die a quick death.
Otherwise, I'll make sure to savor every last bit of value you have before your death."
After Triton said his piece, his eyes narrowed slightly, and a cruel look flashed in his eyes.
The value he was referring to was pointing to the fact that he would use cruel methods to slowly torture Jack to
death and get Jack's Heartblood if Jack did not listen to him.
