Chapter 401 KASMINE.
The moment the double doors swung open, I swear my heart skipped about ten beats at once.
The hall was already filled to the brim, the whole place radiating with excitement and warmth... The cheer that erupted almost knockedoff my feet... the roar of the hall... The claps and the deep, resonant howls of my pack. Oh, God.
We walked into the hall. Alphas and Lunas from far and near were in attendance.
My fingers were laced tight in Kester's, his thumb brushing over my knuckles like he was grounding me, and telling'stay with me, Mine', his other hand at the small of my back, steeringlike I was something precious he wasn't about to let the world handle on its own, as we walked to the podium.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI could feel the subtle tension in him, that coiled, possessive pride that was so very him. Every step we took together down that aisle felt like it belonged to a dream I'd once been too afraid to have.
The golden light spilling from the chandeliers caught on his dark hair, the sharp lines of his jaw, the glint in his eyes that hadn't leftsince we entered. That look - God, that look. Obsessive. Loving. Possessive. Proud. It said MINE without a single word. And every tmy heart dared to race, he placed his palm against mine and squeezed, as if to remindhe felt it too.
"You got this, baby," He whispered into my ear as we stood in front of the officiating elder.
Norlan was already waiting for us at the podium, all dressed up in matching suits as my Alpha. Deep grey suits. Speak of friendship.
He smiled at us as we drew near. God, the smile on his face... It wasn't just happiness. It was that kind of smile you give family when you're proud of them. I couldn't help but grin back, and Kester gave him a nod.
When we reached, I stood between Kester and Norlan. The elder was already in place, his ceremonial robes falling to the floor, holding that big old leather book which, honestly, weighed a hundred years.
"Ready to be made Beta of the Blood Crescent pack?” I asked Norlan and he chuckled.
"Been ready my whole life, Luna. That asshole just didn't notice," He winked and nodded toward Kester, and we all laughed.
Kester's hand slid from my back to my waist, his fingers curling against my hip. He didn't even look Chapter 401 at the elder his eyes were onlike I was the only thing that mattered in that hall.
"Kasmine Hamilton of the Blood Crescent pack,” the elder began after performing srites, today you stand before your Alpha, before your pack, and before the laws of our people. You are called to be Luna - a protector, a voice of unity, a keeper of our traditions. Do you vow to guard the a lead pack as fiercely as you would guard your own life? Do you vow to stand beside your Alpha in strength and in weakness, in battle and in peace?" I swallowed hard, my vision blurring. Out of the corner of my eye, Kester hadn't looked away fromonce. His stare burned through me, holdingin place, fillingwith something so overwhelming it made my chest ache.
"Yes," I breathed, "I do." Kester leaned in just enough for onlyto hear. "That's my girl." The elder kept going.
"Do you vow to stand beside your Alpha, to be his strength when he falters, his counsel in times of need, his shield when danger comes?" Somewhere in the middle, my tears began to fall in hot trails down my cheeks that I didn't bother to hide.
I glanced at Kester again, and damn it, he was still staring atlike I'd hung the moon and the stars just for him. That look that said, 'You're mine. Always mine.' My throat tightened. "I do." The elder continued, but half the time, I barely heard him. My eyes kept finding Kester's, and every tthey did, he'd givethat small, almost wicked smirk. That 'I can't believe you're mine in front of all these people' smirk.
The vows ended with, "Do you swear to love without condition, to lead without fear, and to give your life if need be, for the safety of the pack?" I nodded with a shaky smile, "I swear it." The elder closed the book, "Then, by the authority of the council, I nyou Luna of the Blood Crescent Pack." The hall erupted in another round of applause and cheers, but the sound blurred into nothing the second Kester turned fully to me.
"Didn't I tell you I'd make you mine, Kasmine Hamilton?" His arm snaked around my waist, looking like he' wanted to fuseinto him.so close I could feel his heartbeat hammer against mine Chapter 401 "Now you are mine, Mine. But today, not only could wear it, but I was oftally his, in front of the whole world.
He slowly pulled away, his hand reaching for my chin as he gently tilted my head to meet his face. his thumb brushing off tears from my face.
"One more step to go, huh?" he murmured. I smiled through the tears and nodded. Ready to becMrs. Kester Hamilton?" My heart gave a hard, loud thud in my chest. "Yes, Alpha," I teased, watching that flicker in his eyes and knowing exactly what it does to him when I called him that recently.
I could feel Zeth surge close to the surface, and his irises bled into that deep green. He was at pre Eliseye's ve did that whenever he wasn't aroused, angry, agitated, or in the mood to rain chaos. And surprisingly, I was no longer scared of Zeth.
