| went through the photos Kat had brought in earlier, saying it was from
Gridshade. Even though | and Tasyra had nothing together, | couldn't deny the pain | felt on seeing her go
through the sbrutality | went through.
| could remember vividly how | was treated even worse than a dog by those people. They did everything to break
me, but | guess | had a strong wolf even though | wasn't an Alpha.
Tasyra's wails and screams for help really got to my heart, and for a moment, my heart went out to her. | felt pity
for her.
"Why are they treating her this way?" Kat's voice suddenly pulledout of my train of thoughts as | looked up
at her. | shook my head, not even knowing what to say.
"I don't know, It's as if she did something wrong and they're punishing her for it."
"But why would they threaten her father with it?" Kat asked, making a point with her words. Indeed, if Tasyra
really offended those people, why would they send pictures to her father and tell him to present himself as
exchange?
Things weren't making sense toand | felt my mood go off.
"Or did Gridshade do something wrong to them?" | asked her this time, | just loved how we both, | and Kat,
reasoned so well. She nodded and said, "This is actually a reasonable explanation on why, so I'll pick this one."

"We really need to save her or they might kill her."
"You can't get involved." Kat chimed in immediately, her eyes darkening. "What do you mean?" | asked her as
well, my face devoid of any emotion.
"Erika has a reason for keeping this away from you, and I'm not about to endanger you by letting you take this
on your own." She said and sat before me, a worried look appeared on her face as she extended a hand to touch
my face as usual.
| moved back, away from her touch and | glared sightly at her. "I'm not doing this because | love Tasyra, incase
that's what you have in mind. I'm doing this because of Gridshade." | said to her and | saw the look of relief that
flashed in her eyes.
"So | would advice you, to not holdback. You don't want to lose your mate, do you?" | threatened and she
gulped.
"Jace, don't threatenwith that..." her voice broke, tellingthat | had hurt her with the words I just said.
| smiled thinly and extended a hand to snake it around her neck, and without warning, | pulled her in for a kiss.
She froze at first, buy reciprocated as | didn't pull away.
When | finally pulled away, she stared atwide eyed.
"What.."
"You won't lose your mate, but that is if you're cooperative." | assured her and | saw her nod.
"Alright, I'll be cooperative." She finally relented and | pulled her in for a hug. | wasn't supposed to do this, but
Kat leftwith no choice the moment she prohibitedfrom helping Tasyra because Erika refused.
And of course | wouldn't reject her because of that.
| just wanted to scare her, make her feel fear for once and also makesee the true feelings she had for me.
"I need to leave.." | drawled and she raised a brow. "Don't tellyou're going to save her now? With out a well
proofed plan?" She asked seriously and | shook my head with a laugh.
"Hell no! | want to head to the hospital. My wolf is healing me
slowly and | need to visit the net
for one thing." | explained and she
sighed in relief.
I smiled and ruffled her hair as | stood up to my feet and headed for the bathroom.
Well | didn't lie about seeing the doctor, but | also wanted to see Fagel.
It had been so long | last saw him and | needed to know exactly what he had to
tell me.
He should have recoporated well enough after so long.
After | stepped out of the bathroom, | saw Kat still seated on my bed and | raised
a brow.
"You're still here?"
"Mm.... | want to go to the hospital
with you," she said and | spital
"No, you can't go. Let's go downstairs together, but | can't take you to the hospital with me."
She pouted and sighed, "Fine, let's go downstairs."
"You'll watchchange?" | asked with a raised brow and she blushed.
"I don't mind...." And her flirty side was back again.
Before, | would shy away from it, but not anymore.
| moved to my wardrobe and picked out a white shirt and black pants.
"Keep your eyes on me.” | ordered and she smirked. Her eyes fixed onas | pulled my T-shirt over my head.
| saw her blink on seeing my bare body and | slowly put on my white shirt, still making sure my gaze held hers.
Just as | reached for my pants, Kat suddenly yelped and buried her face into the pillow.
"Damn!"
The room was suddenly filled with the sound of my laughter as | laughed at my silly mate's actions.
Now | accept, Kat was the only mate | would ever want for me. No one else, not in this life or the next.
It her and me.
