Chapter 334 Trust Lauren's words had barely been spoken when Harper hung up the phone directly.
Her eyes glazed over as she fell into contemplation.
Though Lauren's words weren't entirely trustworthy, the fact that Benjamin had gone to the company early in the morning and Mrs. Eleanor had gone back to sleep seemed like too much of a coincidence. Harper tightly pressed her lips together and immediately got up to leave the office.
She briefed Sophia on the afternoon's tasks before driving straight to the Martin Group.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe had to get things clear about Mrs. Eleanor's situation, or she wouldn't be able to rest easy.
As for what Lauren had said about her neglecting her grandmother for the sake of her unborn child, it was impossible.
Harper arrived at the Martin Group, and Benjamin, being informed of her visit, was already sitting at the desk in the office when she walked in.
He looked at her and softly asked, "Why have you cat this time?" Their interactions had been rare over the past couple of days, so her coming to the company to find him at this twas unlikely to be normal. But Benjamin always maintained his calm composure, so there was no sign of anything unusual about him.
Harper stared directly at him and asked straightforwardly, "Benjamin, I have a question for you. Is there anything you've been hiding from me?" Benjamin furrowed his brows slightly and replied calmly, "Why ask like that? Who told you something?" "Answer me, have you been hiding anything fromlately?" "No." He looked at her earnestly.
But in the next moment, Harper smirked coldly, her expression devoid of emotion as she asked, "Really?" Benjamin didn't respond, just gazing at her. "Harper, what do you want to know?" She felt a bit overwhelmed.
What did she want to know? He obviously knew what she was asking, but he just wouldn't tell the truth.
She questioned coldly, "Did you accompany Grandma to the hospital today?" Benjamin remained silent, essentially confirming it.
Her face was filled with coldness. "You knew Grandma's condition wasn't good, so why were you unwilling to tell me? Just because I'm pregnant, are you afraid that worrying about Grandma's health might harm the child in my belly?" Her blunt questioning made Benjamin's expression turn cold, too.
He said indifferently, "Harper, do you really think ofthat way? Do you think I can't distinguish the importance of things?" Harper looked at him blankly, feeling a strange and unexplainable emotion in her heart.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBenjamin continued, "Yes, I did go to the hospital with Grandma today. She mentioned this matter towhen she first cto Mayby, but due to Dr. Gene schedule, it was only arranged today. The situation isn't good, but Grandma insists on conservative treatment because she feels she's too old to withstand the risks and hassle of surgery. She also doesn't want you to worry, so she hopes I'll keep it from you for now. But Harper, I am not the heartless person you described, nor am I selfish enough to compare your unborn child with your most important grandmother." Harper lowered her head, the questioning attitude and urgency from earlier gone. She was left with only a sense of confusion and hesitation.
She tightly pressed her lips together and, after several seconds, spoke softly, "I'm sorry." Benjamin also squinted his eyes, feeling quite angry at her questioning, but seeing her now, looking like a child who had made a mistake, his heart softened again.
He just said softly, "What are you thinking?"
"I want Grandma to have the surgery, and I don't want to give up any hope." "Alright, as long as you're clear about it, I stand by you."
She instinctively looked up at Benjamin, their eyes meeting There were tears shimmering in her eyes like stars, but they never fell.
He walked over and gently embraced her, his voice low, "khape you havè just a bit of trust in me, okay?" RULE #1 choose married women They have reason to keep things secret, as do you.
