His Ex wife is a billionaire Chapter 260
Chapter 260
The man’s palm gripped her lifeless pinky, enveloping it with a tenderness and warmth that she had never experienced before.
She felt as if her numb nerves were being revived.
Evadne closed her eyes in peace, leaning against his broad back, her icy hands gradually warmed up under his palm, comfortably shrinking into it.
Thaddeus‘ heart fiuttered. He was fearing that she would be repulsed and withdraw, so he gripped her even tighter.
“Behave, don’t move around.” The man’s voice held a stern tone, the pain from the impact wound on his back intensifying.
But he hid it well, not wanting her to worry.
Even if it was just once.
He hoped that he could gain her trust, become her reliance.
“Uhm, it’s so cold, hurry up then.” Evadne muttered in a daze.
“Just hang in there a little longer. We’ll find someplace to take shelter soon.” Thaddeus‘ heavy breath fogged up his vision, each step he took was extremely difficult. “And if we can’t find any,” Evadne was completely out of energy, her voice soft and weak.
“Then, shelter in my arms.” Thaddeus blurted out, his eyes full of emotions.
“No! No way! I won’t let you take advantage of me!” Evadne’s heart missed a beat, her long eyelashes fiuttering in panic. Thaddeus just smirked. Carrying this restless woman on his back, he felt an unexpected surge of energy, his heart warm. Best to not provoke her and focus on getting to safety, after all, she couldn’t escape from him.
They clung to each other, their breaths merging, their heartbeats in sync.
It felt like they were back to that heart–stopping moment thirteen years ago.
Only, the girl on his back had grown up.
Even, she had once been his wife for three long years.
On the other side.
Jason was worried about Evadne and braved the rain to rush to the campsite.

Just as Jason was about to enter, he bumped into Professor Leo and Gordon, both dressed in raincoats.
“It’s that suck–up secretary!” Gordon almost blurted out, but swallowed his words.
“Why are you here? Did Thaddeus come? Where’s Miss Evadne?”
Perhaps it was due to the strong bond with Evadne, Jason sensed that something was wrong, his heart skipped a beat.
“Mr. Jason, calm down!”
Gordon was also in a panic, but he believed that Mrs. Abernathy was blessed and would not die. He also believed that Mr. Thaddeus would find her and protect her, “Mr. Thaddeus and the entire ranger team have gone up the mountain to find Mrs. Abernathy! And I’ve arranged for three helicopters to join the search as per Mr. Thaddeus‘ instructions! Mr. Thaddeus has sworn not to return until he finds Mrs. Abernathy!”
Upon hearing these words, Jason was immensely shocked!
He couldn’t believe that the cold–hearted Thaddeus would make such a declaration for Evadne.
“It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have let llana go up the mountain!” Professor Leo hit his chest in regret.
“You must stop blaming yourself, and trust Mr. Thaddeus! He is a god!”
Jason and Professor Leo were speechless.
Gordon’s words were not comforting at all, only creating an even more awkward atmosphere.
“No. I can’t trust Thaddeus! I have to inform President Ashbourne about this immediately!”
Jason’s hand was shaking badly as he dialed Cassius’s number.
Cassius picked up quickly, before Jason could speak, Cassius‘ urgent voice came through, “Jason, did something happen to Evadne?”
Perhaps it was the bond between siblings, he had been feeling uneasy all night.
Now that Jason had contacted him, he was more certain that something had happened to his little sister!
“Sir!”
Jason’s eyes were red and swollen, “Miss Evadne is in trouble! Please send someone to Misty Mountain Park for assistance immediately!”
When Jason called for help, Cassius was at the military headquarters in Azeroth City, 350 kilometers away from Elmsworth.
Since he was in Azeroth City, he had to meet his brother, Bennett Waverley.
Being one of the quadruplets, Bennett was the one who was born early, and at twenty–eight, he was already a colonel with a distinguished military record. Now, he was a high–ranking officer, leading the military in Azeroth City and seldom saw his family.
So, whenever Cassius had the chance, he would meet with Bennett.
“Bennett, something’s happened to Evadne, I need to go back to Elmsworth immediately!” Cassius‘ brows furrowed deeply, his

filled with worry.
The usually cold and composed colonel, upon hearing that his beloved little sister was in trouble, was completely thrown into a panic!
Cassius‘ heart was pounding, his voice slightly hoarse with urgency, “Our little sister went to Forest Park to volunteer again.”
Bebnett clenched his fist and sighed, pacing anxiously.
If his soldiers were to see him in this state, they would probably be shocked.
Ive told her a thousand times over, donating money is enough. She’s not a professional lifeguard. She could put herself in danger by getting Involved!” Cassius was wringing his hands with worry
“Why in the world does our little sister always run off to that place? Is there a gold mine in the Misty Mountain? Or some kind of ancient martial arts secret?”
Bennett had dropped his usual serious facade, revealing a sense of humor that was so much like their father.
Cassius gave him a meaningful look, then said in a cold voice, “Don’t you remember what happened when our little sister was eleven?”
“Of course I remember,” Bennett replied, his expression turning gloomy. He sighed deeply. “Her relationship with that Abernathy boy was a disaster.”
“So I’ve come to realize something. Mom gave birth to us four first so that we could protect our little sister and be her solid support,” Cassius declared. He sighed heavily, then turned around and headed for the door. “The situation is urgent, Bennett. I have to go!”

“Cassius, wait!” Bennett quickly called out, grabbing his military cap from the armrest of the sofa and placing it neatly on his head. “I’m coming with you!”
After what felt like an eternity, Thaddeus finally found a small, dark cave. He carried Evadne inside and helped her lean against the wall.
Evadne was shivering, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. Her l*ps were white, and there were two hot fiushes on her dirty cheeks.
Despite her weakness and discomfort, her eyes still sparkled in the dim light. Thaddeus couldn’t help but feel a surge of warmth towards her.
Suddenly. Thaddeus realized that her cheeks were burning hot. “Are you running a fever?
“Ill be fine.” Evadne murmured. His hands felt cool against her skin, and she didn’t pull away from his touch.
Thaddeus quickly took off his jacket and shirt, wrapping them around Evadne to keep her warm.
“Are you still cold?” he asked, his voice hoarse.
“Uh. cold, so cold.” Evadne shivered, hugging herself tighter.
Thaddeus took a deep breath, and then slowly opened his arms and pulled her into his chest, rubbing her back to generate warmth.
“Are you still cold?” he asked again, his heartbeat pounding in his ears.
Evadne rubbed her chin against his shoulder, then buried her face into his neck.
Thaddeus held her closer, his fingers gently massaging her hair. He wanted to comfort her, to make her feel safe.
“Evadne, why did you marry me? Is it just because I once saved you? Is it just out of gratitude?” Thaddeus asked, his hand holding hers tightly against his
chest.
“I married you because I love you,” Evadne replied, her voice barely a whisper.
Thaddeus’s breath hitched, and he held her even tighter.
“I always hoped to marry you. I never thought that dream would come true.”
“Evadne, do you still love me?” Thaddeus asked, his voice desperate.
Evadne looked at their intertwined hands, and then she slowly pulled her hand away from his.
