S3 36. Farewell
“Grandma, what’s wrong?” Abigail bent down, checking.
Diana just shook her head.
“How about you come with us to the airport? You will have time to talk on the way,” Philip suggested
quietly.
Diana waved her hand. “The timing isn’t right, Philip. They’re in a hurry. I don’t want to get in the way.”
“But-
“No, Philip. I don’t want to burden their minds. Besides, this is my fault. I’m the one who has to bear the
consequences.”
While Abigail scratched her temple, Barbara took Diana’s hand. ” Grandma, don’t worry. As soon as my
mother’s problem is resolved, we will definitely see you again. You can make everything straight.”
Diana nodded in resignation. “Yes, now go. Don’t keep the others
waiting.”
Philip and Barbara nodded. After hugging Diana and saying goo to Abigail, they ran after the others.
Diana could only look at them with sad eyes.
“Grandma, are you okay?” Abigail whispered after a while. Philip an Barbara were out of sight, but
Diana was still looking in the same.

Diana shook her head. “This is what happens when you don’t appreciate those who love you.”
While Abigail was pensive, someone who had been watching them since earlier approached. “Excuse

something? Wasn’t it Frank Harper and his family who were with you?” Diana turned her head with her
eyes still wet. “Yes, what’s up?”
“So it’s true?” The eccentrically dressed middle-aged woman swung her fist into her palm. “I knew it. It
was them. I should have just cursed that woman straight away. She dared to separate Frank Harper

Unexpectedly, Diana hit the woman’s arm. “How dare you curse my granddaughter-in-law like that? Do
you really know her?”
The woman stared wide-eyed at Diana. “Granddaughter-in-law?”
“If you don’t understand anything, it’s better to just shut up. What good is it for you to be incited by the
news?”
The woman started to step back. However, Diana grabbed her by the
sleeve.
“Kara is soft-hearted and merciful. She likes peace. She is even
willing to take the blame to avoid conflict. You are accusing her of seeking sensation, of causing
trouble, huh? How dare you?”
“Grandma,” Abigail shook Diana’s arm, “please stop. Everyone is
watching.”
Diana snorted. Instead of lowering her voice, she just got louder.
“Good! You all should know. Kara is completely innocent. She lov Frank sincerely and Frank does too.
Whether there are obstacles o not is not a problem for them.”
While looking around, Diana gritted her teeth. “And one more thing. My grandson is smart. He knows
when he is being deceived or not. He knows how to act. You have no right to accuse him of being
instigated by Kara, because Kara never incited him.”
“Grandma, your blood pressure will rise again.”
“These people need to be reminded, Abi. They shouldn’t believe random news.
“Okay, okay.” The stranger nodded. “I admit I was wrong. Now please take off my clothes. In a moment
my daughter and son-in-law will be here,” she whispered at the end.
Pressing her lips with her chin, Diana let go. Then, her index finger was pointed swiftly. “If you don’t
want to be embarrassed, don’t make other people embarrassed.”
“Yeah, yeah.” The woman stepped back then turned to the waiting chair at the corner. Her lips were
cursing. Diana scoffed in disbelief.
“Grandma, shall we go home now?” Abigail guided Diana to stop looking at the woman.
“Yes.”
While walking, Diana massaged her temples. Her head was spinning thinking about how many people
out there were insulting Kara.

Dinner time was still long. Abigail hadn’t even started cooking. However, Diana was already sitting in
the dining room. Her gaze sad, her shoulders were listless. Occasionally, she glanced around the
empty chairs around the table.
“Yesterday they were still here. This morning they were still with me. Why did I waste that time?”
Taking a deep breath, Diana rubbed her neck. At that moment, her gaze fell to the edge of the bench
beside her. Kara had only eaten there once without interruption. Remembering that, her heart became
restless again.
“What a poor girl,” she regretted.
Grandma,” Abigail called softly, “are you still thinking about them?”
Diana blinked. Seeing Abigail’s pitying gaze, her lips trembled. “No. They can definitely handle that
problem. They’re great people.”
“Are you thinking about Sophia then?”
Diana shook her head quickly. “No. Why should I think about that sly girl? She even went away without
saying goodbye.”
“So?” Abigail took her seat.
The twitching of Diana’s chin became more intense. “I was thinking why I was so stupid? How many
days were they here? We should have made a lot of memories together.”
Diana turned to the window. Her gaze was dreamy.
“I should be the one showing them around the farm, introducing them to our horses, showing the kids a
few tricks.”

“They must be very happy if I did that. They would laugh and hug me tightly. They would fill my days
with their cute voices and beh And also….”
Diana took a breath, filling hope back into her lungs. The corne her lips turned up slightly.
“I could take them to the orphanage, introduce them as my great- grandchildren, introduce Frank and
Jery as my grandchildren, and Kara as my granddaughter-in-law.”
Abigail raised an eyebrow at the wrong name. “Do you mean Jeremy, Grandma?”
Diana blinked. Realizing her mistake, she sighed sadly. “I even got my

grandson’s name wrong.”
Not wanting Diana’s tears to fall, Abigail grabbed her hand. “Grandma, I don’t think we can stay here.
How about we go after them?”
Diana’s eyebrows pulled into her forehead. “Are you crazy? Who takes care of the orphanage and the
farm?”
“It’s not just the two of us here, Grandma. There are others. They’ll understand. You’ve never been on
leave in your life.”
Diana’s eyes trembled. There was hope reflected there. However, after one blink, the twinkle faded.
“No, Abi. They are busy taking care of other things. Let me wait for them here.”
“In sorrow?”
Shaking her head faintly, Diana got up from her chair. “Please prepare dinner. I’m hungry.”
Diana knew Abigail was breathing heavily. However, she kept walking out of the dining room. She didn’t
want to bother people anymore with her unstable emotions.
