Chapter 685
Agnes couldn’t find Kerri, so she decided to leave the Prestige Medical Center. She planned to head back to her
hotel, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that a black sedan was following her.
Agnes became wary.
After observing the car in her rear–view mirror for a while, it disappeared.
Agnes was confused. Was she just being paranoid?
Ryder had warned her about being vigilant these past few days, fearing that Berlin and his associates might try to
make a move.

Agnes had been contemplating this whole situation.
She was scared. Although she had some self–defence training, she was still a woman alone in a foreign city. If Berlin
or Laura were to retaliate, Agnes wasn’t sure how she would handle it.
She knew the safest option would be to move back to the Eden Nights, a place controlled by Phenix, where she
would be safer. But ever since she and Jared had become intimate, Agnes had been in a daze.
Knowing Jared, he was probably waiting for her at Eden Nights–like a hunter waiting for his prey.
How was she going to face Jared if she decided to go back?
In the end, Agnes decided against it.
There were things she needed to ponder.
That night’s incident had left her filled with regret..
She was not a reckless person, why had she allowed it to happen?

What Agnes didn’t expect was for Jared to show up at her hotel.
As she parked her car in the hotel’s underground parking garage, a black Bentley parked across from her. Through
the windshield, she could clearly see Jared in the other car.
Was he the one who had been following her? But the car she saw earlier didn’t look like a Bentley…
She didn’t have time to dwell on it, Jared had already gotten out of his car and was walking towards her. Agnes‘
heart pounded uncontrollably. She didn’t want to face Jared, but she had no choice.

To be honest, seeing Jared now was a lot more complicated than when she had first returned home.
Back then, she was still in the dark about the truth, and there was still a feud between them.
Agnes had always feared that Jared would fight her for custody of Nocturne, so she instinctively kept distance from
him.
But things were different now. Agnes knew it was Laura who had killed her mother, not Alyssa.
But knowing the truth four years later didn’t change the present.
Jared had his own life now, his personality was different, and his feelings for her were complicated.
Agnes understood that even without the family feud, the four years had created an insurmountable chasm between
them.
And yet, they had slept together.
Talk about a headache.
Jared had already opened the door to Agnes‘ car, “Agnes, get out!”
