Chapter 94: A Visit to Your Mother "I can't handle Kelvin, but others can still help you," Monica whispered. "Don't get angry over someone like that. It's not worth it, especially for a pregnant woman like you." "Okay." What they didn't know was that the entire exchange had been captured by the overhead security camera.
Kelvin had watched it all.
Away from him, Penelope's smile was more frequent, her eyes bright. When she genuinely smiled, her eyes curved like crescent moons, just as they had when he first met her. When scheming, her eyes darted around, her expressions numerous.
But the Penelope in front of him? Lifeless, eyes downcast, she resembled a docile kitten. Yet, if provoked, she would reveal her claws in a fierce scratch. Kelvin thought it was his doing that had turned her into this.
Perhaps, in time, Penelope would completely becanother person.
"Mr. Davis? Mr. Davis?" Ryan called out several times, "What are you thinking about?" He lazily lifted his eyes: "What do you think it takes to maintain a woman's innocence and spontaneity?" Huh? This question was out of the blue.
Ryan mused that Mr. Davis had been asking a lot about relationships lately. As a straight-laced man himself, Ryan was clueless in this area. If it were work-related, he could respond swiftly and accurately. Was it tto start reading up on relationship psychology? "Won't you say anything?" Kelvin leaned back in his chair.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Well, Mr. Davis, I think..." Ryan scratched his head, searching for an answer, "love will do." "Love?" "Yes, yes, yes. I've heard that the highest form of loving a woman is to pamper her like a daughter. With such indulgence and doting, she can maintain her purity and innocence." Kelvin slowly spoke, "Like a daughter?" He couldn't help but imagine, if he had a daughter, he would indeed treat her like a princess, giving her everything, making her the happiest little girl in the world. The Davis family had three generations of males. If a girl were to join the family, she would indeed be spoiled to the heavens.
He wondered if Fiona was carrying a boy or a girl.
And Penelope's child...
Kelvin's expression turned cold; that wasn't his child, it was none of his concern! "How's the prenatal checkup at the hospital arranged?" Kelvin asked, "When is the specialist arriving in L.A?" "They'll be here this week; I've been following up on it." Kelvin waved his hand dismissively and picked up the phone from the desk.
Fiona had sent a barrage of messages, each one telling him about her day. It was annoying.
If it weren't for that one night, if not for the child, Kelvin would never have chosen Fiona, never.
As dusk fell and night descended, the servants at King Manor were seething silently. Mrs. Wright was proving to be an incredibly difficult person to serve. One moment she complained the bird's nest soup was too bland, the next the temperature wasn't right. She nitpicked everything, and if something wasn't to her liking, she would scream and curse.
By comparison, Mrs. Davis was truly gentle, quiet, and well-educated! The butler, having no other choice, patiently tended to her.
"I know everyone's unhappy, just bear with it. She's someone who just got lucky and now is in a class that doesn't belong to her", the butler consoled the staff, "Don't take it personally, just do your work." "Yes, sir." In the living room, Fiona sat on the couch, scolding a servant peeling a pomegranate, "Can't you do anything? Look at the mess you've made!" "Mrs. Wright, I'll peel another one for you." "Forget it," Fiona said impatiently, "What tis it now? Why isn't Mr. Davis back yet?" "The butler replied, "Mr. Davis has a dinner engagement tonight, he will be back late." "What? So I have to eat alone?" "Yes".

Fiona asked again, "Where is that little employee? She's nowhere to be seen!" "Mrs. Davis is busy with design drafts".
Fiona grew more irritable.
Ever since she had planned the abortion, she had been eager to execute it. Everything was ready; they were just waiting for Penelope to show up.
Without Penelope, the show couldn't go on! Finally, at past nine, Penelope returned.
Fiona perked up, sitting upright on the couch, waiting for Penelope to walk in so she could give her a good scare, a lesson in humility! But...
Penelope was nowhere to be seen.
"Where is she! Didn't she just chome?" Fiona demanded, "What's she skulking around for!" "Mrs. Davis has gone to the servant's quarters." It turned out Penelope hadn't stepped foot into the main villa; she had gone straight to her own place.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe had no desire to see Fiona's face.
"Hey, trying to hide from me? No chance!" Fiona stormed off towards the servant's quarters.
Penelope had just set down her bag when she heard Fiona's voice outside, "Penelope, cout!" She frowned; what was this woman ranting about now? She decided to ignore her.
But Fiona kept yelling outside, "What are you, a coward, too scared to face me? You're pathetic, Penelope, always hiding... drag you out!" place were worthy of me, ave cin to Planning your weekend reading? Ensure you're on novi L5sfor uninterrupted enjoyment. Penelope finally stepped out, "Are you full and bored?" "Are you scolding me?" "And what if I am?" Penelope retorted, "Aren't you a pregnant woman? All this shouting, have you considered your baby?" "Hey, so you've finally shown up?"
"Why can't you just letbe? Can't stand a day without seeing me?m Penelope leaned against the door frame, "I'm not as free as you, I have plenty to do." Fiona huffed, "Yes, I have a good life, something you can't envy." "Oh, is there anything else? Say it all at once, I want to wash up and sleep." "I didn't chere to argue with you," Fiona replied. "Penelope, do you remember what happened to your father in prison, the scalding water incident?" Penelope's expression turned grave.
Of course, she remembered.
She hadn't forgotten that grudge.
Her father, suffering in jail at an old age, had to endure the @gonуèƒ being scalded with boiling water, a pain worse than death...
And the boiling water was poured by Fiona herself! "Remembering now, huh?" Fiona smiled triumphantly, "Don't worry, your father is
doing well, all thanks to the money you sent. But as for your mother!!! that's a different story." "Fiona! What are you planning!" "I haven't done anything... just took the tto visit your mother." Penelope clenched her teeth and quickly confronted Fiona, "Who allowed you to see her? You have no rights to see her!"
