Chapter 1421 Facing Opposition from Your Mother Regarding Our Interaction
Marcellus pinched her chin as she stared at him in a daze. "Why are you spacing out? Don't go to the hospital today
since you're feeling unwell, okay?"
Snap back to reality. Beryl moved her head back. "No, I have to take care of my father."
Although they were dating, she couldn't let it interfere with other responsibilities. "I've already taken leave from
school, so I can't skip the hospital."
This would make her feel guilty.
Marcellus looked at her stubborn appearance and sighed helplessly. "Rest for just one day, and I'll arrange for the
hospital to send the best caregivers over..."

Marcellus was startled by her reaction, and his narrow eyes squinted slightly. "Why are you so worked up?"
"I-I'm not worked up..." Beryl thought of her conversation with Wallis at the station, trying to hide it from Marcellus
while figuring out how to refuse. She was feeling uneasy.
Marcellus quickly caught on to this little scheme. Seeing her feeling torn and hesitant, he almost guessed the
reason.
"Did your family say something after you went back?"
Her heart skipped a beat when he hit the mark. She tried to act calm, "No, of course not... I'm going to freshen up.
Please move aside."
Seeing her trying to avoid the subject, Marcellus not only didn't move away but even approached her. "Beryl, are
you hiding something from me?"
Feeling overwhelmed, Beryl stumbled over her words, "N-no, why are you being so insistent? What could they
possibly say? They're just very grateful to you..."
"Grateful to me, so they refuse my goodwill?" Marcellus snorted coldly. "With your little scheming, you can't hide
anything from me. Are you sure you won't tell me the truth?"
He had a look as if he would keep pressing for the truth if she didn't confess. Beryl already lacked confidence when
facing him, and now, with his assertive demeanor, she couldn't keep up the pretense any longer, so she had no
choice but to confess the truth.
She chose to retell the more tactful words Wallis had said that day, refraining from mentioning the harshest
remarks. They had just started dating, and she didn't want Marcellus to feel that her family looked down on him.
But the more she tried to be considerate, the more Marcellus could sense Wallis's strong disapproval. Otherwise,
Beryl wouldn't be so evasive and hesitant, clearly hiding something negative.

"You must be facing opposition from your mother regarding our interaction," he said, not even using the word
"relationship." He knew Beryl probably didn't dare to confront her family about it.
Beryl didn't know how to respond, feeling uneasy. "I..."
"I had already anticipated this outcome," Marcellus said cheerfully in response to her hesitation. It was not that he
didn't care, but he had long expected such a result. "You being with me at your age, it's not just your family, but
others will also have their opinions."
No matter how young he looked, his actual age was there, and the older generation was more conservative. Beryl's
family, just like her, was not materialistic, so they wouldn't focus on his background.
Beryl pressed her lips together, silently observing the man in front of her.
Marcellus finally released his hold on her and said, "You don't need to hide anything from me. I can handle these
things. I just need to make more effort when facing your parents."
