Chapter 1416 Too Abnormal
After leaving the hospital, Beryl didn't rest. She went to a nearby restaurant and bought a sandwich and some
dumplings, specifically requesting carrot fillings to avoid greasiness.
She then walked towards the train station, passing by a pharmacy where she paused for a few seconds and bought
cold medicine and hangover relief. She had heard him feeling unwell on the phone earlier, and although he had
Kevin as a good friend, she thought it was better to be prepared.
Although she didn't have much money, Amir's illness cost a lot, but Marcellus had always been good to her, and she
wouldn't be stingy.
Taking a bus from the hospital to the foot of the villa mountain, she looked up at the dimly lit villa halfway up the
slope and sighed.

from there.
After twenty minutes, she finally arrived at the entrance of the villa, panting for breath. Marcellus had previously
given her the password for convenience during her care, so she entered it to open the gate.
Walking all the way to the villa's main entrance, she pushed the door open. Inside, it was dim, with only the sensor
light in the hallway being lit; there was no sign of anyone in the living room.
Where was he?
Beryl furrowed her brows slightly, took off her shoes, and turned on the lights in the living room before tiptoeing
towards the master bedroom on the second floor.
As she reached the bedroom, she found the door tightly shut, which further worried her. She hurriedly walked over,
raised her hand, and knocked twice. "Marcellus, are you in there?"
As the words fell, there was silence all around.
No one answered her.
Everything was too abnormal, abnormal enough to make her feel uneasy.
Without paying attention to anything else, Beryl simply opened the door. The light from the corridor spilled into the
room, illuminating the edge of the floor by the doorway. In the dim light, she could see the man sitting on the edge
of the bed on the carpet.
He slouched slightly, leaning against one side of the bed, with one leg stretched out and the other bent. His arms
were resting on the bed, surrounded by scattered beer cans all around him.
He rarely drank beer. Beryl remembered him saying that beer had no taste and made him uncomfortable, but
today he had drunk so much of it.
He exuded an aura that kept people from approaching, with messy hair and loose clothes. If she didn't know him

The atmosphere in this room was too frightening.
Without dwelling on the reasons, Beryl walked over with her belongings. She didn't turn on the lights, afraid it would
disturb this fragile and sensitive man. She squatted in front of him, her eyes reflecting the faint light from outside,
and asked him carefully, "Marcellus, what's wrong with you?"
Her intuition told her that something must have happened to make him like this, and it must be something that
deeply upset him.
Marcellus looked at the little figure in front of him, listening to the familiar voice. Her soft and delicate voice
became the only soothing medicine for him tonight.
"Beryl..." His Adam's apple rolled, and he mustered the strength to speak, but his voice remained hoarse and heart-
wrenching. He had smoked a lot, one after another, and his throat was already in pain.
Beryl looked at his face, hidden in the darkness. His usually radiant peach blossom eyes were now dull and lifeless.
The pride he used to carry seemed to have been stripped away, leaving only the original bloody wound.
Like a wild beast that had once ruled, licking its wounds in the endless darkness.
