Chapter 1409 Have a Stable Relationship, Yet Unmarried
Today, Marcellus deliberately wore a slightly more casual suit, wanting to appear less mature. He pulled out a chair,
"Mrs. Julius, please have a seat."
Wallis glanced at the seat; it was the main seat. She quickly moved to the side and said, "Mr. Perkins, you must sit
here; I can't..."
"Why not?" Marcellus also insisted, in his eyes, she was his girlfriend's mother, and he absolutely could not be
neglectful. "As the elder, it's most appropriate for you to sit here."
Beryl looked at the back and forth between the two of them and realized the atmosphere was about to become
tense. She quickly tried to ease the situation, "Mom, since Mr. Perkins said you should sit, just go ahead. Otherwise,
he'll feel awkward."
Wallis hesitated for a moment after hearing this but knew it would be impolite to continue declining. With some

Beryl sat down next to her while Marcellus took the seat across from them.
The three of them looked at each other, and an awkward silence filled the air. Finally, the waiter brought the menu,
breaking the tension.
"Mrs. Julius, have a look and see if there's anything you'd like to eat. I've asked them to prepare some signature
dishes, and you can add anything you like."
Wallis's main purpose for coming here was not to eat. "Whatever you order is fine; I have no dietary restrictions."
After handing the menu back to the waiter, Beryl, and Marcellus's eyes met, but they quickly averted their gazes
like they were scalded by boiling water. There was an awkwardness as if they were hiding something, feeling guilty
as if they had been caught red-handed.
Soon, a variety of exquisite dishes were served, and it was evident that Marcellus had put some effort into ordering
them.
As Wallis looked at the man sitting across from her, she could feel the natural aura emanating from him with every
move he made. This was the first time she faced a big boss with such status, truly sensing the difference between
people and the gap between social classes.
Indeed, there was no comparison; just one look, and it was clear that they were not the same kind of people.
Wallis suppressed her emotions, lifted the teacup in front of her, and said, "Mr. Perkins, my husband is still in the
hospital. I have to stay by his side this afternoon, so I can't drink alcohol. I'll use tea instead, toasting you a cup.
Thank you for helping our family and Beryl through this difficult time."
Marcellus quickly stood up to clink glasses with Wallis, but when they touched, he intentionally lowered his cup,
saying, "Mrs. Julius, you don't have to be polite. It's all something I... " "Should do" almost came out of his mouth,
but after receiving a warning glance from Beryl, he quickly changed his wording, "It's within my capacity to help."
"Don't say that. You are Beryl's boss, and she's just an intern. To receive such great care from the company, we are
truly grateful."

was being praised like this. It felt like she was overly flattering him, and he couldn't help but worry about what would
happen if the truth came to light one day...
Marcellus couldn't imagine that scenario, so he just tried to be more "humble" and said, "Mrs. Julius, please don't
say that. Beryl is doing well."
Upon hearing this, a subtle change appeared in Wallis's expression, but she didn't say anything and simply finished
her tea.
After expressing their gratitude, they started to eat, and the atmosphere gradually became less awkward than
before.
During the meal, Wallis suddenly asked, "Mr. Perkins, you are young and talented, and you seem to be a kind
person. Is your personal life also very happy?"
Marcellus responded directly and quickly, without much thought, "Auntie, I haven't started a family yet."
"Haven't started?" Wallis paused with her fork in hand, "So you have a stable relationship with a girlfriend but
haven't married?"
