Chapter 1407 The Feeling of Meeting the Parents
"I, I..." Beryl was at a loss for words, especially when she saw the sincerity in his eyes. She felt like a sleazy guy who
was irresponsible in a romantic relationship.
How did it become her fault?
"Don't be so nervous. It's just having a meal together. I won't say anything. Besides, your mother wants to meet
me; you can't stop that. Sooner or later, we'll have to meet," Marcellus reasoned with her and spoke gently,
"Otherwise, your mother will always keep this in mind, and it won't be good for both of us. We should be sensible."
Marcellus's words left Beryl feeling conflicted. Indeed, Wallis was a straightforward person, and lately, she had been
feeling anxious about the money issue.
Over a hundred thousand dollars was a significant amount for their ordinary family. If Wallis couldn't meet with

It made Beryl feel uncomfortable just thinking about it.
But if they really met, Beryl had no idea how things would develop.
Seeing her remain silent, Marcellus knew she was hesitating. Seizing the opportunity, he said, "How about this? I'll
go to the restaurant first and wait for you and your mother. After your father finishes the examination, you both
can come over. This way, it should be fine, right? I'll follow your lead during the meal. No matter what you say, I'll
go along with it, okay?"
In reality, Marcellus usually detested interactions with elders. He avoided family members as much as possible. But
in Beryl's mother's case, there was no avoiding it.
He couldn't figure out why he was being so attentive. Just thinking about being able to meet her mother made him
extremely excited and happy, as if their relationship was moving to another level.
Marcellus felt even more convinced that helping Amir with his medical expenses was the rightest choice.
"Okay then," Beryl hesitated for a while before finally relenting, "But please don't be too casual. My family is very
conservative, and I don't want them to have any worries."
"Understood," Marcellus nodded hurriedly. At this moment, he would agree with whatever she said without a hint of
complaint.
So, the two of them decided to have lunch together that day.
After arriving at the hospital, Beryl accompanied Amir through all the examinations before informing Wallis about
the arrangement. Upon hearing the news, Wallis quickly changed into a new outfit and neatly combed her hair.
"Do I look okay like this?" she asked while looking in the mirror.
Beryl felt a strange sensation in her heart seeing her mother being so formal. It was like the feeling of meeting a
partner's parents when in a romantic relationship.

"Okay."
Wallis picked up her bag, and the two of them linked arms as they walked out of the hospital. Originally, they
planned to take a taxi, but as soon as they reached the entrance, a black luxury Mercedes-Benz stopped in front of
them.
"Hello, are you Mrs. Julius?" The driver lowered the window and respectfully asked.
Wallis pointed at herself. She had never encountered such a situation before, "Yes, I am."
“Mr. Perkins asked me to come and pick you up. Please get in the car.”
Upon hearing this, Beryl couldn't help rolling her eyes inwardly. They had agreed to meet at the restaurant, but now
a driver was sent instead.
She glanced at her mother, who seemed taken aback as well.
With a forced smile, Beryl opened the car door and said, "Mom, my boss is just considerate and polite. Let's get in
the car and not be late."
