Chapter 725
Penelope's words hit Marguerite like a ton of bricks, leaving her stunned and struggling to grasp reality.
"Penelope...what...what did you say?" Marguerite stammered in disbelief.
The room was suddenly abuzz, as everyone crowded around to hear more.
Hackett was particularly distraught, unable to comprehend why Penelope would say such a thing! After all, the
paternity test he had taken with Yuna clearly showed that she was indeed his daughter! What in the world was
going on?
"Marguerite, | called you in such a hurry that day because | needed to tell you this. | accidentally overheard a
conversation between Yuna and Zoe, and | learned that the child the Lockwoods took from the hospital was you
all along!"

Penelope said, gripping Marguerite's shoulders tightly, her voice quivering with emotion, "Marguerite, do you
understand what I'm saying? You are my daughter! You were never alone, never without family. You have me,
and you have your brother! We are your family, the ones who love you most!"
Marguerite was overwhelmed, her mind buzzing with confusion and shock, tears streaming down her face
uncontrollably.
"Are you...really my mother?"
"Yes, my child! | am! You are my dear daughter, the one I've been searching for these last twenty-five years!
You've been through so much, my dear."
"...Mom..."
Calling her 'mom’ felt so heavy, so significant, it took Marguerite a while to muster the courage to say it out loud.
"Mom is here!"
"If I could, I'd wish to never be your daughter! If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been framed by Yuna! Mom,
it's all my fault!"
"Marguerite! Bad people will do bad things, how is that your fault? Don't worry, from now on, your brother and |
will protect you! No one will be allowed to hurt you!"
Marguerite, feeling both guilty and moved, finally smiled through her tears and embraced Penelope. She had a
mother! She finally had a mom! No longer was she alone in the world, no longer did she have to face its cruelty
without support.
Meanwhile, Robert, overhearing everything and thinking of the injustices Marguerite had suffered over the years,
could no longer hold back. He marched over to Yuna and slapped her hard across the face.
"Yuna, remember this, | never hit women, but today | made an exception! One for my mother, and two for my
sister! Your wicked deeds are unforgivable, and even killing you wouldn't make up for the pain you've caused my
mom and Marguerite!" The slap left Yuna with a bruised face.
Hackett gasped, instinctively lamenting, "Robert, why hit her? Can't we sit down and talk this through?"
But Penelope was even more furious than Robert! "Hackett! What's there to talk about? Yuna nearly killed me
and took Marguerite's place. Can't you see the severity of her actions?"
"I refuse to believe Yuna would harm her own mother. Penelope, there must be smisunderstanding! Didn't
Violet say Zoe was also there? Maybe Zoe, not Yuna, was the one who acted."
Penelope couldn't believe what Hackett was saying. Before coming here, she had been unsure how to resolve the
tension between her and Hackett. He thought she was dead, and in just a couple of weeks, he seemed to have
aged a decade, even falling ill. Yet, unknowingly, he also had a daughter with Zoe. She didn't know whether to
forgive him. But now, faced with the undeniable truth and seeing Hackett still holding out hope for Yuna, she
knew she didn't have to hesitate anymore.
