Melody was in her room. Her injured foot was no longer swollen but still aching. She wasn't surprised at all to hear this and showed no emotion.
Still, she spoke apologetically, "This was my fault. I hadn't ridden in a long tand never expected it would cause Ms. Shaw such harm. Even though she wasn't injured, I should still apologize to her, right?" Douglas knew fully well she wasn't sincere. She was only saying this to appear kind and self-sacrificing.
Hearing no response from him for a while, Melody frowned in annoyance. Was he seriously considering making her apologize to Sierra? "No need." Douglas lit another cigarette and said in a hoarse voice, "Melody, as a friend, I need to remind you that Theo is married. Let it go." He meant well, but she clearly didn't care.
